So good, but…

Radio-lab is such a great podcast I bought there merch and subscribe to their episodes and downloaded for aeroplane trips I’m a go to as a radio-lab fan but it’s so disappointing every time I see a repeat, since I’ve been a fan for so long, it’s really hard to listen to it because I already know the stories whenever I get excited that there’s a new one. I always have to check that it’s not like an old one also it’s becoming more and more common. I’m worried that the radio lab I love is changing forever.
Great content, abrasive editing

I ran out of Ologies and got suggested this by the algorithm. I LOVE investigative journalism podcasts ever since one of the first podcasts I binged through whose name I can’t remember - either way - love the content, 11/10 but, Radiolab team, PLEASE ease up a bit on the intercut editing. It’s nice for an accent, makes it feel snappy, but when you’re cutting the guest and host several times a sentence so they’re alternating every few seconds and without any discernible, regular rhythm it puts me on edge and makes me want to throw my phone at the wall. I’m gonna write this sudden violent impulse off as yet debuff of neurodivergence - so please, for accessibility’s sake, don’t overuse it - it’s irritating. And I’m sure even neurotypical listeners might agree, nobody *enjoys* that honeymooning couple who won’t stop finishing each other’s sentences - but we can tolerate them occasionally!
A fallen behemoth

The old shows are some of finest radio/podcasts I’ve ever listened to. But newish presenter Latif has this teenage American way of presenting, saying “like” every other word in a nasal voice. It’s a shame it lost its way.
Great show, but lots of reruns
11/03/2024
A great show (I’ve been listening to it for over a decade) but they’ve got to review how they name their episodes. Lots of their episodes lately are reruns - which is fine! - but they don’t title them as reruns, so it feels misleading as you never know if it’s a real episode or not. Probably doesn’t make a difference to newcomers but I feel like it’s a surefire way of losing a lot of legacy listeners & could easily be fixed by flagging episodes ‘(Replay)’ so people don’t feel clickbaited.
Too many repeats and old episodes you have to pay for
01/03/2024
Why do I have to pay to get access to episodes made a decade ago? Greedy. Especially when half the episodes nowadays are repeats of those very same sold episodes. They should just fold the show down its tired at this point and the new hosts just don’t have the old vibe.
Just the best

So good
Not so good anymore

The presenters are so woke and seem wedded to story, more so than revealing the wonder in what is actually true. The clown fish episode, reminds me of the idea of being 'soo open minded your brain fell out'.
Finn and the Bell

No disrespect to the family members and community whose grief is obvious and very raw. This is about the introduction which over-hyped the episode and talked about how it “changed” them. Changed how? Hundreds if not thousands of teens take their own lives every year in the U.S and focussing on any one of them would produce a heartfelt tribute by their family and friends. So I’m struggling to understand what sets this one apart; why it won a bunch of prestigious awards; why it has been recommended on several other podcasts. For me there was no twist in the story, no epiphany, no transcendent moment. It panned out exactly how I thought it would after listening to the first 5 minutes. In hindsight I would have been more affected if the reasons behind the suicide had been explored, rather than ruled out completely. In that sense there is nothing to learn from this tragedy - no wider understanding of teenage mental health issues. Considering the scale of the problem it’s a very important opportunity missed which leaves a question mark over the awards bestowed upon this episode.
Bring Radiolab back!

This show was once fantastic, despite its excessive reruns. The content was undeniably amazing. Regrettably, it has since gone downhill and transformed into a completely mediocre production.
