    King's Quest

    King's Quest

In the 18 years we've been putting out this little podcast, we've never produced a single episode wholly devoted to classic Sierra games. Well, that sin against listenerkind ends TODAY as we peer back 40 years in the past to discuss the monumentally important adventure game, King's Quest. Originally intended as a means to sell a platform that died shortly after its release, this interactive fairy tale unexpectedly went on to define Sierra and spawn many more Quests over the next decade-plus. On this episode, join Bob Mackey, patron Daniel Glass, and Sierra speedrunning correspondent (and Adventure Game Fan Fair affiliate) OneShortEye as the crew gathers to discuss the series that made this California developer synonymous with adventure—and frustration!

Retronauts is a completely fan-funded operation. To support the show, and get two full-length exclusive episodes every month, as well as access to 50+ previous bonus episodes, please visit the official Retronauts Patreon at patreon.com/retronauts.

Great gaming podcast

I’m a huge fan of Jeremy Parish, he knows his games and comes across as a genuine down-to-Earth dude. I also enjoy listening to Stuart Gipp and his dry sense of humour. When either of these guys are presenting, you know it’s going to be a great episode!

Legendary status Parish

I’ve been listening to Jeremy since watching him on The 1up show, the alchemist of retro video gaming. It’s the lens he applies that no other besides his peers on 8-4 have got. Shout out to Bob as well.

Early years were great, now not so much

Used to be very interesting. In depth research about creators of a game, market conditions, info on marketing and release etc.
Nowdays most of the podcasts are “we played this game back then, let us tell you what we liked/didnt like”. They are like casual reviews and not like mini documentaries.
Those still appear now and then but the general quality and style has changed so much (especially in the last 1-2 years).
