I’ve been at playing the saxophone (tenor) for the last 3 1/2 years. I had my first alto saxophone when I was 16 at 61 1/2 Covid dropped and by the time I was 62 I’ve thrown a strop and bought myself a Yamaha YTS 280. I’ve got to the point where I’m starting to inwardly examine what my capabilities are in memory. Metaphysical, can I remember? Can my muscles remember? Why am I so crap when playing in front of people can do a cracking job in the practice studio?
I want to become good. But I wish I’d started when I was eight.. So the problem with adults is high expectations marred by low cabilities. I like the approach of this podcast, because it talks existential it around the subject, but never actually deals with the subject.
I’m trying to up my game to a point where I could approach “His Wallyness for lesson” albeit a remote ( unless you were thinking of coming to the UK, really soon, Wally 😜) the constant lesson being pedalled is “go practice” at 65 I’m looking forward to that time. In retirement. However, there is much more I can do - I know it’s in my heart. So practice hard. And I am climbing that greasy saxophone pole. Thanks for the Podcasts. I like your mental approach.
