Bonus episode | Blether with Alisdair Fleming about St Kilda double UNESCO World Heritage Site

Bonus episode | Blether with Alisdair Fleming about St Kilda double UNESCO World Heritage Site

We've got a wee bonus for you ! Susan interviewed Alisdair Fleming as a wee teaser ahead of her Virtual Tour of St Kilda on 11th Feb at 8pm GMT / 3pm EST/ noon PT.  St Kilda is 40 nautical miles from the nearest other land mass (Outer Hebrides) and was voluntarily evacuated in 1930 when the subsistence style of living was no longer viable.  Alisdair's family roots go back to St Kilda from the 1700s until evacuation. We were able to extract the audio so we thought we'd post it so you could listen instead of watching.

If you fancy coming along to our Virtual Tours, email scottishbletherspodcast@gmail.com and we can book you on.  Tickets are £15 per device.

We have lots more Virtual Tours planned every 2nd Thursday at 8pm GMT - next up after St Kilda is Liz with Edinburgh : A Tale of Two Cities on 25th Feb.  Booking as above.

Episode 20 | Pre-history in Kilmartin Glen, pies and Parliamo Glasgow !

Episode 20 | Pre-history in Kilmartin Glen, pies and Parliamo Glasgow !

Welcome to Episode 20 - we are as surprised as all of you that we have made it this far !  In this episode we discuss all types of Scottish (not just Scotch) pies, the fabulous pre-history of Kilmartin Glen (a request from a lovely listener - was it Linda?) and the joy of Glasgow patter i.e. Glaswegian accents and phrases.

We have also branched out into Virtual Tours that are delivered every 2 weeks via Zoom and cost £15 per event.  The next one, on 11th Feb at 8pm GMT / 3pm EST and is on the archipelago of St Kilda.  The islands lie 40 nautical miles off the Outer Hebrides islands on the west coast of Scotland and are double UNESCO heritage designated.  If you would like to come along, drop an email to scottishbletherspodcast@gmail.com and we can get you signed up.  The money we generate goes into paying for a new logo and creation of a website.

Laughter and learning

Really interesting and fun show. As an American who recently relocated to Edinburgh, I’m learning a lot and looking forward to exploring the places you cover.

This is such a great podcast - really relaxed and informal but bursting with interesting facts and quirky ideas. Love it.
