#85: Dealing with overwhelm and burn-out with LeAnna Azzolini

Welcome to episode 85 of Shoot Edit Chat Repeat, the podcast for people photographers. Hosted by two leading UK portrait photographers, Vicki Knights & Eddie Judd.

We've heard lots of you saying recently that you're feeling overwhelmed and stressed.

It's understandable - coming out of lockdown where we weren't shooting, socialising, mum-taxiing etc etc then being thrown right back into our busy lives is a shock to the system!

So we invited the wonderful US photographer LeAnna Azzolini onto the show to chat to us about this.

LeAnna has just experienced burn out herself, so we talk about her experience of this and how to recognise the signs early before you burn out.

We have a lovely chat with LeAnna all about her tips for dealing with overwhelm burnout, whether social media contributes to this and also about her love for self-portraiture.

This week we chat to wedding photographer & educator Ellie McKinney about all things Enneagram. Ellie uses Enneagram in her mentoring and her business, and we wanted to find out from her what it can add to our own businesses.

Do you know your Enneagram type? It's a great tool to use not only in your business, but in your life.

Knowing your Enneagram doesn't put you in a rigid box. It helps you to become more self-aware and have a better understanding of those around you and how your clients perceive you.

Here is the most accurate free Enneagram test that Ellie recommends.

But she does recommend investing the $12 to get the official Enneagram test done here.

You can check out Ellie's work and education here.

I can really relate to this!

I love listening to Shoot Edit Chat Repeat whenever I’ve got a moment - I just listened to the interview with Karen Skidmore and I feel like I can relate to it so much that I had to tell you!
I reached burnout in my business in 2018 from trying to do way too much; I was working 7 days a week and had no social life! I was shooting weddings, whilst building up the portrait side of my business shooting boudoir and personal branding. There were also other things that contributed to my burnout but that's a whole other story! I made the tough decision to stop shooting weddings (which was my main bread
