Sliding Doors

Have you ever had a Sliding Doors Moment - a decision or opportunity that could have gone either way that leads to two very different futures? I’m Jennie Becker and I’m fascinated by ‘what if’ moments - what they look like, what we can learn from them - and how we can begin to embrace them. Four years ago I had my very own Sliding Doors Moment when I decided to start this podcast. Since then I’ve been on an incredible journey helping guests join the dots on the small decisions or moments that made a big difference and built the path of their lives. From Olympians to Presenters, Actors to Entrepreneurs (and even the cast of the 90s hit movie!), each episode I get to meet amazing people and ask them what could have been, if they’d chosen differently… Hosted on Acast. 6. Chesney Hawkes: How a random song, originally labelled a 'throw out', changed his life forever!

    5 JUN

Chesney Hawkes: How a random song, originally labelled a 'throw out', changed his life forever!

Chesney Hawkes is a Singer Songwriter, who was a teen sensation at the age of 19 when his single ‘The One and Only’ catapulted him into pop stardom. He was one of the first teenagers in pop history ever to bag the Number One spot with a debut release, staying at the top for five weeks and crashing Top 10s world-wide. Chesney has been very open about his rise and fall in the industry and for a while took time out of the limelight and also became a well respected and talented songwriter. Now 53, he is back with a bang, releasing his first collection of new material in over a decade. Fans will no doubt agree that his surprising and deeply personal sixth studio album, 'Living Arrows' was worth the wait.  In this episode Chesney opens up about why he decided to do Celebrity Big Brother and how fear is the only thing standing in our way when it comes to taking on new opportunities, growing and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. He has a great zest for life and doesn't believe in coincidences or regrets, as everything that's happened to him, good and bad, has got him to where he is now. His three Sliding Doors Moments include: If I hadn't turned on the TV and seen Roger Daltry looking for a young boy to play his son in a movie, his career would not have been the same (and we have a bonus moment of how 'The One and Only' was VERY nearly a throw out!!), if he hadn't made a last minute decision to watch his friend perform in a pub he never would of met his wife, and what if he had said yes when asked to write with a young up and coming artist?!
