    Independent Bookstore Day - The Social Media Podcast

    ARE YOU BLOGGING YET? So, when did you last write a blog for your brand or business? When looking at taking your brand from being known locally to nationally and really using the “How to 9 x your social media” you need a content plan, because one of the ways you'll take your brand up a gear is by being consistent in your marketing messages week on week and most importantly being regular with your content. The gateway to being regular with your content is the blog, and your plan can help with this, tying your weekly content in with events, subjects that are relevant to your audience at the specific time of year. The blog WILL help you create so much more than just the one written piece of content. It WILL help you with a structure for regular long-form video content on the subject matter be it live or recorded. It WILL help you create memes, short-form video, podcasts, etc. All these can be used across multiple social media channels where your audience is, and help you really start to speak to people you'd never normally be in front of.     The Sun Is Here - The Social Media Podcast

    YES......Tomorrow is April 24th and it's going to be the warmest weekend of the year so far....a chance to relax, put up your feet outside and do nothing....or is it. The thing is, social media NEVER switches off, so my suggestion to all my clients and you as a small brand or business is to be sure you're ready to hit social media when you're need. In other words, switch on those notifications so you can respond to messages, DM's etc. etc. either good or bad. Nothing worse than someone festering on a complaint for 3 / 4 days before you get back to them because you switch off on a weekend. You're a small business, you cannot afford the potentially bad publicity that could bring you as a brand.

    World Creativity Day - The Social Media Podcast

    It’s world creativity day so I want to see you use this as an opportunity to start training that muscle. You see. OK, not everyone can film or draw stuff for their content, but, you can come up with great ideas. Not at first perhaps but creativity is like a muscle, the more you use it the stronger the ideas become. Keep pushing yourself to put content out, and stop worrying about perfection.     Chinese Language Day - The Social Media Podcast

    Today is #chineselanguageday.....The problem with a lot of marketing these days is that it’s not laser targeted and is far too broad. I use The analytics on all social media channels to check my demographics because it gives me a visual representation of where my followers are geographically. I can then run targeting to followers from specific areas, and make sure that the content is relevant and valuable for those followers. Even better than that you could even run content that’s so targeted to your biggest audience that the language you use on it is native to that country so you’re truly speaking to them as a target customer. Never underestimate the power of actually talking directly to someone where they are. ⁣

    Pinata Day - The Social Media Podcast

    Today is #pinataday if you’re in a businesses marketing department we feel we have to hit everything, every single day, especially when it comes to social media. The biggest difficulty for most places is actually connected to social media spend. Don’t get me wrong, I talk about FREE content all the time and doing as much as you can with content to put out your value organically. However, there comes a point that you have to also think seriously about your sales messages, and this is where actually speaking to a professional to help is a good idea. I was actually speaking to a business this morning about their content or lack there of and they mentioned how they’d used Facebook ad’s but they hadn’t worked so they stopped using them. As I pointed out, it’s not the ad’s that didn’t work they just didn’t do them right. Even their content was ok, but, unless you’ve taken the time to actually learn how to niche down your audience the right way on your content then the chances are it will be a total waste of cash. For example they had no idea they could go as narrow as literally advertise one item they sold to one type of person and then another add to another type of person. Also, they had no idea they could pay for advertising on the likes of Spotify as a national business rather than just on local radio, and probably for about the same cost. There’s so much more to ad spend then I can fit into this small piece, but, when it comes to not only creating the content to sell but also the actually setting up the adverts, if you don’t have the time to learn properly, don’t guess at it, get a professional in to help you.
