Kermode & Mayo’s Take

Which is a relief. I wish whatever drives the podcasts would not try to suggest other, unrelated shows to me. Including, entertainingly, something by the Mayo clinic!

I like Simon and admire Mark. But cancelled my subscription after 6 months because I could no longer stand the overwhelming smugness of the show’s correspondents. The self-satisfied prig who wrote in about bus timetables after the Andy Serkis interview was typically grating. The cultist listeners with their ‘Dear [insert arch reference and look how educated I am]’ schtick are far too pleased with themselves. Sorry to say that the warmth of the hosts and their genuine knowledge of and enthusiasm for cinema is undermined by the self-congratulatory tone of almost all of the subscribers whose contributions are read out every week. The car park is more overblown than overflowing.

Used to be about films, now can’t go more than five minutes without mentioning Trump. Obsessive but also really boring. Also ironic that considering the show pushes a leftist narrative, it has got more and more money grabbing. Mark has continually said that if you don’t agree with his views, you can push off. So I am doing that. One less LTL. Loved the show, Steve.

Love the film stuff, hate the arrogant leftist political commentary. Another LTL bites the dust.
