The Stan R. Mitchell Show — America at 250, Iran's dangerous crossroads, and the lessons of Ukraine | July 2, 2026

Politics, military, and world events — explained clearly, without the outrage. Finding common ground, lowering the temperature, and offering Biblical encouragement for difficult times. Learn more about the show here. 👉 Podcast hub — all platforms ⏱️ Timestamps / main stories covered: Episode Timestamps 3:26 — America celebrates its 250th birthday A look at what America has gotten right over the past 250 years — from peaceful transfers of power and religious liberty to local communities and service — while honestly acknowledging our failures and asking what kind of country we want to pass on to the next generation. 20:57 — Why the risk of war with Iran may be far greater than most people realize The headlines aren’t telling the whole story. We examine why the conflict has become a larger geopolitical struggle over power in the Middle East, why regional allies are shifting their positions, and why the chances of a wider war appear to be increasing. 48:30 — Is President Trump losing political momentum? Recent polling, policy challenges, and shifting public opinion suggest the political landscape may be changing. We look at what that could mean heading into the months ahead. 1:00:25 — Ukraine’s stunning turnaround—and what the West got wrong The war looks very different than it did just months ago. We examine Ukraine’s changing position, Russia’s challenges, and why the United States and Europe should honestly evaluate many of the assumptions they made during the invasion. 1:14:35 — Faith & Encouragement A reminder that our deepest hope isn’t found in politics, governments, or military victories, but in Christ—and why that truth matters even more during uncertain times. 1:31:44 — Why this show exists A quick look at the mission behind The Stan R. Mitchell Show: calm analysis, lower temperatures, honest conversations, and the search for common ground in a divided country. Trump’s Iran Deal: Victory, Defeat — or Temporary Truce?

Politics, military, and world events — explained clearly, without the outrage. Finding common ground, lowering the temperature, and offering Biblical encouragement for difficult times. Learn more about the show here. 👉 Podcast hub — all platforms ⏱️ Timestamps / main stories covered: 1:02 — About the document Trump signed with Iran… 13:25 — The real reason the “deal” had to happen? 20:33 — Iran used mass to overwhelm our sophisticated advantages; and the charts prove it. 25:34 — The New York Times blasts the President in an editorial, says Trump lost the war to Iran. Former Vice President (and Republican) Mike Pence agrees… 39:59 — Real talk: does the deal even matter? Will it possibly hold? 46:13 — Faith & encouragement 1:11:18 — About the show and my mission 1:02 — Trump got his Iran deal. Why are so many conservatives furious? Less than a week ago, President Trump was threatening additional strikes. Now he has signed an agreement with Iran. But some of the loudest criticism isn’t coming from Democrats. It’s coming from Republicans, conservative media, and even former allies who say the deal fails to achieve many of the goals the administration originally promised. 13:25 — The real reason the deal may have been unavoidable For months, the message was that America didn’t need Middle Eastern oil. Then the President acknowledged something very different: that reserves could have become a serious problem within weeks. Was the agreement driven more by military success—or by economic reality? 20:33 — How Iran fought America to a draw The most eye-opening charts I found this week weren’t about politics. They were about math. While the United States relied on sophisticated and expensive defenses, Iran relied on sheer volume—thousands of missiles and drones launched across the region. The numbers help explain why the pressure to end the conflict kept growing. 25:34 — “President Trump Lost This War” The New York Times editorial board didn’t pull any punches. Neither did former Vice President Mike Pence. I walk through their arguments, why they’re resonating with some conservatives, and whether the criticism is fair or simply partisan spin. 39:59 — The question that matters most Forget who won the news cycle. Forget the talking points. The real question is whether this agreement survives at all. Israel reportedly wasn’t part of the negotiations, key details remain controversial, and opposition is already building from multiple directions. Does the deal even matter if it doesn’t last? Military and world events — explained clearly, without the noise. Every episode ends with Biblical encouragement to help provide you hope, wisdom, and peace. Learn more about the show here. 👉 Podcast hub — all platforms ⏱️ Timestamps / main stories covered: 1:33 — Victor Davis Hanson and intellectual honesty 15:42 — Iran peace talks collapse 24:33 — Iran’s military may be stronger than advertised 30:28 — What comes next with Iran 33:17 — Trump’s China trip and the limits of leverage 42:57 — Tennessee redistricting risks 47:57 — The CIA’s secret war on Mexican cartels 54:01 — Faith & fortitude 1:02:08 — About me, the mission, and my books 📌 Source notes can be seen on my Substack page. The notes and receipts for my remarks regarding Victor Davis Hanson. From my podcast three weeks ago where I quoted Victor Davis Hanson: The recent comments of Victor Davis Hanson, on what he’s saying now: U.S. Intelligence Shows Iran Retains Substantial Missile Capabilities Secret new assessments say Iran has operational access to 30 of its 33 missile sites along the Strait of Hormuz, suggesting that its military remains far stronger than President Trump has asserted. The Trump administration’s public portrayal of a shattered Iranian military is sharply at odds with what U.S. intelligence agencies are telling policymakers behind closed doors, according to classified assessments from early this month that show Iran has regained access to most of its missile sites, launchers and underground facilities. Trump’s Shrinking Ambitions on China The president came into office planning harsher trade moves on China than on the rest of the world. Here’s why he’s had to scale them back. China Increasingly Views Trump’s America as an Empire in Decline (The below is not a summary or transcript of the above podcast, but rather a compilation of various new sources pulled together.) * China needs the U.S. economy more than the U.S. needs ChinaThe argument is that China’s slowing economy still depends heavily on access to American consumers and markets, especially while dealing with debt problems and weaker growth. * China is vulnerable on energy and trade routesWith instability around the Strait of Hormuz, China has a huge interest in keeping global shipping and oil flowing. That gives Washington leverage. * China backed down before on trade pressureEven though China retaliated with rare earth restrictions, the broader point is probably that Beijing ultimately prefers stability and continued trade over a prolonged economic confrontation. * The U.S. still dominates militarily and financiallyThe dollar system, global naval power, sanctions capability, and alliances still give America structural advantages China cannot easily replace. * Xi Jinping may need stability more than Trump does politicallyChina’s leadership tends to prioritize internal stability and long-term economic calm, which can make Beijing cautious about escalation. Trump, meanwhile, often uses unpredictability as leverage. HUGE DISCLAIMER: One important thing: a lot of foreign-policy analysts actually argue the opposite right now — that China holds significant leverage because of rare earth minerals, manufacturing dominance, and America’s dependence on Chinese supply chains. CNN: CIA escalates secret war on cartels with deadly operations inside Mexico Faith notes: Let’s talk about life in the valley, when life knocks you flat on your back If this episode was helpful, please share it with someone who would benefit — and consider leaving a rating on Apple or Spotify.
