Straight From The Off - With PJ Smith

Straight From The Off - With PJ Smith

Straight From The Off welcomes PJ Smith to the Podcast. PJ was one of the most naturally gifted players I have ever faced when he was a teenager. He seemingly had the world at his feet playing an age group up for Everton FC, but it wasn’t going as well for him and many thought with personal issues and a sort of imposter syndrome telling him he didn’t belong at that level. Life has gone full circle now for PJ, working to help people woth drink and drug problems (from which he suffered himself) has brought him back into football working with Premier League teams explaining the pitfalls of life and the realities if you don’t make it as a pro. He tells us about his younger years with Tramways, Alsop and Mainliners and how all the top local pro clubs including Liverpool and Man Utd wanted him.
He tells us about all the lads he shared a pitch with and played against throughout those times.

The Refs Always Right

I’m not from Liverpool but involved in grass roots football as a referee in Greater Manchester and Lancashire. It’s great to hear the passion for grass roots football and the stories are very relatable whether or not you know the teams or players.
