Strange and Unexplained with Daisy Eagan

A podcast about all the things that make us wonder. Each week, we’ll tell you a true story that will fascinate and terrify you: a family who receive letters from a “Watcher” after moving into their new house, a hotel that’s seen so much death that it has to be cursed, UFO encounters, hauntings, Bigfoot sightings, and so much more. Written and hosted by Tony Award-winning actor and celebrated writer Daisy Eagan, “Strange and Unexplained” is a journey into the uncomfortable and the unknowable that will leave you both laughing and sleeping with the lights on.

Delving into these stories from a slightly different angle has been really interesting. And while I don't neccessarily agree with everything Daisy says, i still very much enjoy listening
Funny and entertaining

A very listenable podcast which always makes me laugh. Daisy’s Brooklyn humour is on par. Yes, a little bit leftist but has a 50+ straight white man. I find myself still enjoying this podcast. Keep up the good work guys and Daisy, thank you.
Let’s not let facts get in the way

I listened to this podcast from the start and liked it at first. Early episodes were funny and entertaining and I enjoyed them. Then it started to go downhill and hasn’t stopped. The end for me came with the episode on the Yowie in which it was claimed the Jonathan Swift appropriated the term “yahoo” from aboriginal Australians. OK, the fact that he used the term over 100 years before it was first used by Europeans in reference to the “yowie” cryptid (and 70 years before that word itself was used by Europeans) is ignored in favour of a political fact free agenda. I get it. Ms Egan hates straight white males and doesn’t feel the need to stick to the many genuine issues that are out there. Instead she chooses to be offended by whatever her minimal research and imagination turns up. This has gone from an entertaining and fresh take on stories to a series in which prejudice takes precedence over objective reality - really? a guy who’d been dead 50 years before the first reference to a Yowie somehow appropriated it based solely on the assumption that because he was a white male he couldn’t think of an original word and instead stole a vaguely similar word that he couldn’t possibly have invented for himself? Very much in keeping with current US political debate. Shame she picked the side that prioritises prejudice.
So much less funny than the host thinks

I had high hopes for this podcast after the Watcher House episode, but it turns out that was a rare, listenable episode. This would be SO much better without the insufferable, unfunny ‘jokes’ — honestly, they aren’t needed and smack of a lack of confidence in the material. The host is also not the brightest — episodes are filled with ignorant assertions such as repeating the assertion that blunt force trauma produces a lot of blood (🙄). Add to this the hammy acting and awful, cheesy music and I struggled to find an episode I could stand to listen to: Unsubscribing.
