Agile coaches Geoff Watts and Paul Goddard share their musings over an informal drink. There will be no agenda, no script and no idea where it would go... a truly freeform agile podcast.
Episode 121 - Are we ready for in-person training again?
We are back!! As we reach the f*g-end of the British summer we managed to grab a face to face drink outside a cidery (hence the periodic burst of wind across the microphones) on the outskirts of Cheltenham where we talked about the prospect of getting back to face to face and the mixture of excitement and nerves which led on to Geoff's various degrees of anxiety when training, speaking and coaching live and online.
Somehow this meandered into a discussion about how conferences are - by design - out of date, then finding our purpose and identifying and then internalising and celebrating the value that we add.
We have also uploaded the image below from social media that Geoff mentions towards the end of this episode...
Episode 120 - A Prestigious Pint with Henrik Kniberg
Geoff and Paul recap their Prestigious Pints conversation with agile inspiration of theirs, Henrik Kniberg. They talked about the history of the Spotify model, and what made him decide to go back to being a developer again instead of coaching.
HOLIDAY TIME! But don't worry, we'll be back...
We're all goin' on a summer holiday...
No more workin' for a week or two...
Fun and laughter on a summer holiday...
No more worries for Geoff or Paul...
For a week or two...
Episode 119 - A Prestigious Pint With Lyssa Adkins
Geoff and Paul recap their Prestigious Pints conversation with the one and only agile legend that is Lyssa Adkins. They talked a lot about mental health and wellbeing in the world and the agile environment in general as well as her career to date and future plans.
Episode 118 - What does MVP really mean?
Geoff and Paul get together in a lovely Olde English pub at the source of the River Thames in the Cotswolds to talk Product Ownership. Including a discussion and debate about different 3 letter acronyms, they moved on to discuss the different mindset and psychology behind the exploit and explore states of product development.
Oh yeah - and they have merch now!
Episode 117 - Do we have a bias towards either high or low status?
Oh what a special episode this is! The boys were back inside a real pub after a full day's fishing! So, to celebrate they had not just one drink but two while talking about what people look for from training and what they ultimately get. This led them on to self-discovery and then status - whether we have a bias for high or low status, whether certain roles are more high or low status and whether our job titles affect our perception of status.
Something completely unique
I love the down to earth nature of it; just a couple of agile people sitting in a pub and talking about random stuff then somehow linking it to the challenges we all face in our orgs when trying to be agile. I sometimes think “is this really a good way to spend my time?” but I have always taken something useful from every episode.
Watts and Goddard Unplanned
The Agile Pubcast is an awesome insight in to the minds of two (and sometimes 3 with Nigel Baker) leading agile coaches. It's a must for those involved in Scrum and agile. The quality of the content is good and relevant at all levels from Scrum Master to agile leadership. Love the agile talk, love the booze reviews, keep it up guys!
Tried a few times to listen to this podcast but the sound quality is always very poor.
