    Session 017: Nicholas Bowman-Scargill | Fears Watches

    Session 017: Nicholas Bowman-Scargill | Fears Watches

This week the boys are lucky enough to interview Nicholas Bowman-Scargill, Managing Director of Fears Watches, at their popup shop in London.
Fears Watches was founded in 1846 by Edwin Fear before being passed down to the next two generations of the Fear familu until 1966 where the company lay dormant until 2016. It was at this point Nick re-established the business that his great-great-great-grandfather had founded in Bristol 170 years before. He has since released new watches that combine new craftsmanship while paying homage to the roots of Fears that at one point was employing over 100 watchmakers and exporting to 95 countries.
Ross and Tom chat to Nick about his incredible journey from working in PR, to becoming Rolex apprentice and the moment he found out about the family watch company. They learn how Nick re-launched the company, its ethos and he's made Fears successful again.
The boys also discuss a host of topics including technology, Nick's learnings as an entrepreneur, why he's so well dressed and a whole lot more. Finally we're back with this week's game - time themed, naturally.

    Session 016: Will Edwards | England 7s

After a short break starting jobs and generally working hard, the boys are excited to be back with a long-awaited pod with England 7s player and friend of the show Will Edwards.
Will takes Ross, Tom and Henry through the highs and lows of the journey that has taken him to a career as an elite athlete, from persistent injury setbacks to the surprise of signing his first professional contract with Saracens.
The boys reminisce about watching Will’s Saracens debut, as he goes into detail about the sacrifices that were required to launch his professional career. Will opens up about his doubts when Saracens ended his contract, but how this gave him renewed energy to focus on his rugby at Loughborough and the drive to achieve his dream of turning pro.
Will tells the boys how he was spotted by England 7s coach Simon Amor through a highlights video, and the amazing turn of events that led to his debut tournament in Vancouver. They discuss his development as a player since getting his first full time England 7s contract, including their legendary Death Zone training session and what it’s like playing with his idols.

Session 015: Liam Malone | Double Paralympic Gold Medalist

A special episode this week as the boys welcome Henry back from his travels, as well as double Paralympic gold medalist Liam Malone onto the pod. Liam represented New Zealand in the 2016 Rio Olympics, where he won Gold in the T44 200m and 400m. He achieved Paralympic records in both events, beating the times set by Oscar Pistorius in 2012. He also won a Silver medal in the T44 100m.
Liam maps out his journey to the Paralympics, starting with his early life as a bilateral amputee; where his parents encouraged him to participate in all sports, noting the impact that this has on his resilience. He explains how he struggled with anxiety during his teenage years, compounded by his mum’s death at the age of 18.
Liam outlines how this difficult period in his life affected him, and how it led to decision to start running. The boys learn about Liam’s journey from crowdfunding $50,000 for his blades, his promise to be a gold medalist, to his experience and success at the Olympics.
Ross, Tom and Henry chat to Liam about why he decided to step away from the sport aged 24, his opinions about the Paralympics and a surprise Skype chat with Oscar Pistorius.
Liam goes into detail about his life after athletics, a career in tech and his latest pursuit of a career in stand-up comedy. The boys get a fascinating insight into Liam’s mind-set and how this has contributed to his success, and a lot of hilarious stories along the way!

This week, the boys sit down with Fanbytes CEO Tim Armoo. Fanbytes is a video distribution company that works with brands to distribute videos on social media through influencer channels.
Tom and Ross chat to Tim about his upbringing, and his early years spent living in Ghana. Tim talks candidly about his time in Ghana and the differences in culture and education compared to the UK. He explains how this provided him with the foundation and attitude that has led to his success in business.
Tim gives the boys an amusing look into his childhood, and tells stories about his early career that shaped his journey; including selling ice creams at school and a slight mishap with spread betting after selling his second business, Entrepreneur Express.

Session 013: Andy Shovel | Chosen Bun and (NOT)MEAT

Session 013: Andy Shovel | Chosen Bun and (NOT)MEAT

The boys are back after a short break with Andy Shovel, Co-Founder of Chosen Bun and (NOT)MEAT.
Andy talks Ross and Tom through his transition from a recruitment business to starting Chosen Bun with Co-Founder Pete Sharman. They wanted to put an end to the lack of decent burger delivery services in London, and so decided to create their own.
Andy tells the story of how himself and Pete sampled thousands of burgers in the US to ensure they had the best product, which without a doubt took its toll on their health. He goes on to chronicle the success of Chosen Bun, which included patenting their own burger delivery packaging, and sending the first burger and chips to space.
The boys discuss what Andy learnt from Chosen Bun, and he explains how after selling the business he wanted to tackle a global problem. Then ensued the biggest 360 in food business history, with Andy and Pete founding (NOT)MEAT, a vegan meat alternative appealing to the masses that eat meat.
Andy explains the thinking behind (NOT)MEAT, going through the soon to launch first products, their main selling points and shows Ross and Tom their incredibly real bacon product. Ross and Tom ask Andy about the reaction to his recent TEDx talk, and the ensuing conflict with vegans over the rhetoric behind the brand.
Finally, the boys play a vegan-related game, and ask Andy about his future plans to tackle other global issues.
