Dog Pics, Fog Trips, Dutch lips and a Deathwish
S1E86 - Socially distanced Stephen and Raya cover cycling in fog, breaking spokes mid-ride, how our podcast strategy is ruled by dog pictures, and Raya's deathwish.
Got cycling Christmas presents? We'll tell if you the're good or not. Are we the self-appointed authority? Yes.
Velominati is all about the thrills of hills and pils. No typo. A pun.
Certificiation-wise, we're a South American "15", so themes of a sexual nature are normalised but blasphemy will result in us being ran out of town.
S1E85 - Coronabored? Same. So we're aiming to be the antidote. If not the vaccine. There's some public service broadcasting to help explain what you can actually do cycling-wise during a lockdown.
Our main interview is with the incredible renowned athlete Claire Danson whose survival and reboot from a spectacularly horrific cycling accident is a lesson in positivity and courage.
Velominati wise - it's a big one. We come out of it with the only word anyone needs in 2020: Twatwaffle.
It's a biggy.
Look, it's Me or the Bike
S1E84 - Stephen discovers his love of his bicycle has been cited in his divorce. Tragedy or badge of honour? BADGE.
Cycle clothing when not cycling. We answered this 2 years ago. Nothing like an update. Have our views changed? Is it Acceptable or excessive?
Speaking of which... the Velominati's back. And there's new fabric technology to geek over and a winter range to die for. Not literally. But it's genuinely that good. Hats off dhb.
Ample compensation for a bike-wrecked marriage, innit.
No Half Wheeling Measures
S1E83 - pandemic killed your cycling holiday? No probs. We show you where you can actually go cycling (show recorded before UK lockdown 2, so advice now useless).
Meanwhile Ironman Turkey is off for Raya and the Velominati is goading her. Does she lose it? Yes.
And Stephen's gets a cycling specific sports massage. No essential oils, hot rocks, or Enya in the background, or 'extras'. Refund requested.
Also Garmin gets a kicking and Stephen's asked to do an impression of Raya. Shots fired.
Romesh Ranganathan vs Peloton
S1E82 with Romesh Ranganathan!
Not just a celeb crowbar; Rom's been banging out Peloton. Religiously. Get the low down, We look at why it might be a serious option for keen cyclists.
Plus; a quintessential Velominati that has it's own rules. You can't miss this.
Oh and a kitbag where formal dinner wear might now become your go-to Autumn cycling apparel. This is not a windup.
But of course, it's all about Romesh. Well. and a tiny bit about toblerone. Yeah, you heard.
Cycling Can Still Save the World
S1E81 The Cyclist Pod; distanced but never distant!
"Cycling can save the world". Genuinely - Peter Walker can argue that. He's the Guardian's political correspondent, so of course.
Major tech probs? Yup. Raya hacked, and Stephen AWOL. Hacked as well? No. He can't work out how his new remote recording system so he sounds weird.
Plus: the best permanent British Audax/Sportive circuit. Open 24h and free (really!) and a Velominati that blows right up in your face. No, literally.

Enjoyable cycling banter
Discovered this a couple of months ago during a period of self isolation (and couldn't get out on the bike). I have now listened to almost 60 of them and really enjoy them and keeps me entertained while out walking the dog. It's like sitting in and listening to your mates chat about bikes, cycling and the occasional foray into running and swimming. At the rate I'm going through them, I'm going to run out of episodes soon so hopeully Raya and Stpehen can get on and make a few more :)
Pompous busting fun!
I’ve just started to get into the whole Lycra clad world of ‘real’ cycling and came across this podcast. Have to say it’s highly entertaining and a refreshing change to some of the pompous crap you see online from cycling gurus! Keep it up!
Thought I’d check this out as something different to listen to. Enthusiastic presenters, pretty funny and light hearted. Have enjoyed them all so far. Don’t agree with everything but it’s interesting to listen to different opinions so can’t fault them for that. Will listen to more. Keep it up 👍
