Difficult to follow
I feel bad leaving a rather indifferent review for a podcast which hasn’t yet picked up a following: 3 stars was the absolute maximum I could honestly muster!
The presenter narrates quite well, and tries hard to extract coherent information out of his subject with simple and sometimes repetitive questions. But the perpetrator is so inarticulate, nasal, throaty and mumbly, never finishing a sentence properly, it is well nigh impossible to understand what he’s saying. And, like a young teenager, he inserts the word “like” umpteen times in each half sentence, rendering the meaning of each even more impenetrable.
I guess podcasters meet inarticulate interviewees all the time, but maybe the more experienced ones let the subject’s voice be heard now and then for authenticity, but otherwise paraphrase the narrative in their own voice, for clarity.
I don’t believe my difficulties can be put down to just my being a Pom rather than an Aussie - I’d defy anyone to follow Dan at times. He should get that throat checked out! A voice that croaks after a couple of sentences could be a sign of something serious.
Dull Interview
Could have been an interesting story but just didn’t capture my attention. Too much like a long interview rather than the narrator telling the story.
My main issue is with the adverts for cryptocurrency. This should come with a warning about investments, nothing is guaranteed like the adverts state. I would have thought this would be law in Australia just like the UK.
