The long term friendship of Dirk and Blythy shines through…
Dirk and Blythy calmly chat about roleplaying games and the early days of the hobby. Their measured northern tones expresses a love of the hobby shared over decades. One of the must-listen gaming podcasts out there.
Northern Humour
This feels like settling in with old friends for a cosy conversation in the pub about role-playing games. That northern humour oozes through the pores of this podcast, which is always friendly and inclusive, and their earlier experiences certainly resonate (difficulty finding gamers - check; deep freeze - check).
Always interesting and entertaining, I look forward to every episode of this - a gem amongst a slew of great RPG podcasts. You can even forgive their somewhat dodgy literary tastes (please no Moorcock).
Here’s hoping this podcast keeps going for a long time yet.
An absolute gaming gem
This is a wonderfully warm, funny and insightful pod that’s perfect for gamers of a particular vintage - and great for more recent converts too. Dirk is a terrific host, ably backed up by his partner in crime Judge Blythey and a Grogsquad of guests and occasional contributors. The tone is always gently humorous and warm, with frequent bursts of pure nostalgia mixed in with enthusiasm for newer games. Dirk and Blythey’s knowledge and experience is deep and broad, and the pod has opens my eyes (and wallet) to many games old and new. It richly deserves its reputation of one of the best pods out there. Perhaps one day I’ll get to Grogmeet and buy them both a pint of something suitably warm and… uhh… brown? An absolute gem of a pod!
