    Repost: Griffin from Reboot Deboot

Hi Bodcasters, we're taking a break before Season 8 eight and so this week we're again taking you back to Season 4 where we were joined by Griffin from the Reboot Deboot podcast. Original episode description In this episode of The Middle-aged Bodcast, Raging Rich and T.A. Shelano welcome Griffin - host of the "Reboot Deboot" podcast, author, and Twitch streamer - for a lively and honest conversation about creativity, remakes, and turning frustration into fuel. Griffin shares how he channels anger and irritation into something productive, whether that's podcasting without a safety net (no edits!), writing fiction, or streaming live to his audience. They explore the origins of Reboot Deboot, the craft behind reviewing remakes, and what makes a reimagined film truly worthwhile. Also in this episode: Using rage as a creative tool (instead of bottling it up)The realities of writing and the messy road to finding your voiceWhy some remakes work - and others miss the markHow modern reboots can reframe old themes for new audiencesThe myth of sacred source material in Hollywood It's an episode about honesty, hustle, and holding a mirror up to pop culture - with plenty of laughs (and a bit of righteous shouting) along the way. Paul Farmer, Age UK Chief Executive: Physical health, mental health & how to age better

This week on The Middle-aged Bodcast, we're joined by Paul Farmer, Chief Executive of Age UK, for the Season 7 finale and the final chapter of our support for Age UK's Act Now, Age Better campaign. Paul joins us to talk about how the choices we make in midlife can help us stay healthier, more active and better connected as we get older. We discuss why so many people have difficult relationships with exercise, the barriers that can stop us getting active again in middle age and why finding something you actually enjoy can make such a difference. The conversation also explores the connection between physical and mental health, Paul's previous work as Chief Executive of Mind, how attitudes towards mental health have changed over the past decade and why social connection becomes increasingly important as we get older. Along the way, Paul shares some of his own experiences with running, cycling and parkrun, reflects on his career in the charity sector and tells us what it was like appearing on Desert Island Discs. This episode feels like the perfect way to round off Season 7, and talking with Paul definitely gave us plenty to think about when it comes to getting older and looking after ourselves a bit better. Shrinking Simmo: Losing 12 stone, finding running and starting again after 40

This week on The Middle-aged Bodcast, Rich and T.A. are joined by Mark, AKA Shrinking Simmo. At the start of 2025, Mark was around 25 stone and knew something had to change. Eighteen months later, he has lost 12 stone, rediscovered running, completed a half marathon and is preparing for the Great North Run. Mark talks about his weight loss journey, why he decided to share it on social media, the support he has found through TikTok and Instagram, and how accountability helped him keep going. We also talk about Couch to 5K, running after 40, setbacks, injury, confidence, body image, mental health, and why starting small can still lead to life-changing progress. As part of our support for Age UK’s Act Now, Age Better campaign, we also ask Mark what advice he would give to anyone in midlife who wants to become more active but does not know where to start. It's a brilliant reminder that it is never too late to make a change, and that sometimes the first step really is just getting out of the door. Mark is taking on the Great North Run in support of a cause close to his heart. Please support his fundraiser and help him make a difference. Chris from Progress One Coaching: Fitness after 40, sustainable weight loss & keeping moving

The Bodcast is back with brand-new episodes as we kick off the second half of Season 7. This week, we're joined by Chris from Progress One Coaching. Chris is an online fitness coach, personal trainer and nutritionist who is refreshingly honest about fitness, food and the nonsense people often see online. We talk about Chris’s own weight-loss journey, why he wanted to help others, and how Progress One Coaching is built around making fitness and nutrition more accessible, realistic and sustainable. There’s chat about calorie confusion, carbs, accountability, quick fixes, why extreme diets rarely work long term, and why getting healthier does not have to mean giving up everything you enjoy. We also talk about getting active in midlife, walking, Parkrun, gym intimidation, home workouts, mental health, building habits and why sometimes the best place to start is simply doing something rather than nothing. Repost: Radio, ring announcing & running: Cultaholic's Tom Campbell on getting fit at 40!

As our short mid-season break continues, we’re bringing back another episode from the Bodcast archives. This week, it’s our Season 4 chat with the brilliant Tom Campbell. You may know Tom from breakfast radio, Cultaholic Wrestling, or his work as a ring announcer, but this episode is really about change. Tom talks to us about his fitness journey since turning 40, from getting started with Couch to 5K to taking on the Great North Run. It’s funny, honest, and genuinely motivating, especially if you’ve ever thought it might be too late to make a change. Enjoy. We’ll be back with the remaining episodes of Season 7 from next week, so in the words of Tom himself: Stay safe, and love you, bye. Original episode description From early mornings on breakfast radio to the bright lights of wrestling ring announcing - and now the pavement - Tom Campbell has lived a life full of big energy and even bigger reinventions. In this episode, Tom joins Rich and T.A. to talk about his midlife transformation: how Couch to 5K got him off the sofa, why Slimming World finally worked, and what it's really like running a half marathon after 40. We also dive into Tom's broadcasting beginnings, life at Cultaholic Wrestling, emotional eating, weight loss wins, and the daily battle to stay motivated - even when you'd rather stay in bed. It's honest, funny, and full of motivation for anyone who thinks they've left it too late to change.
