    Reframing Fear

    Reframing Fear

This week I talk about fear.

Fear plays a significant part in any conversation about why someone has not moved forward towards their dreams.

    Fear of failure

    Fear of embarrassment

Fear of judgment and other people's opinions.

But is fear really the problem?

In this episode, I talk about what fear is and whether what you think is fear is actually fear.

Stick around to the end, where I share my fear checklist, designed to let you know if you're feeling fear or the other thing I reveal in this episode. 😉

This one question can help you kill the overwhelm

This one question can help you kill the overwhelm

    Overwhelm.

That's the subject of this week's show. Or, more specifically, what you can do to cut through the overwhelm and keep it moving.

Now, I don't know about you. But when I was in BigLaw, I'd often get into the office just feeling like I didn't know where to start. There was so much going on, so many competing demands coming at me from different quarters.

And the thing about overwhelm is it stops you in your tracks. It leads to or can be confused for procrastination,  But overwhelm is significantly bigger than that.

If you're in big law, the corporate world, or even just feel there's too much to do but not enough time, you'll understand what I'm talking about.

And you'll want to stick around for this episode where I share the question to yourself so you can cut through the overwhelm and keep on moving towards your lit life!🔥

    Consistency beats intensity

    Consistency beats intensity

Are you an all-or-nothing type of person?  Go hard or go home?

That can be great in short bursts and help you push forward, like the turbo boost in a race car.

But the thing about an all-or-nothing approach is that over time, it ends up with you doing nothing.

    Why?

Because maintaining that same level of intensity day in and day out over a long period isn't sustainable.

So by focusing on maintaining that level of intensity, you don't get to where it is that you want to get to because you give up at some point along the way, and you don't achieve the thing that you want to achieve.

So you're probably thinking, well, what's the answer here?

    How do I change that?

How do I carve out the time?

How do I step back from intensity?

    What is the answer?

Well, have no fear! All questions are answered in this week's episode. 😎

The Messy Middle: Growth can't happen without going through it

The Messy Middle: Growth can't happen without going through it

Growth and transformation are not linear.

I recently got a new tattoo representing a caterpillar's change to a butterfly. The tat reminded me of the transformation I've made since leaving BigLaw.

But just as a caterpillar can't become a butterfly without going through the messy chrysalis stage, I couldn't make the transformation in my life without going through a similar stage, what I call the messy middle.

Yet, the thing I didn't realise, and that always hits me square in the face when I think all is good, is that the growth never stops, which means at some point, you're gonna find yourself in the messy middle again.

And it's this, the obstacles, roadblocks, and general discomfort of growth. that stops so many in their tracks, that stops them from continuing the pursuit of what they want.

In this episode, I talk about my experiences of the messy middle and why you shouldn't let this stage of growth stop you from moving forwards.

    Choose Your Own Adventure

    Choose Your Own Adventure

How often do you tell yourself that you don't have a choice about something?

I used to do it all the time, especially when thinking about leaving BigLaw. I'd say things like:

    🚫 I don;t have a choice

    🚫 I can't leave

🚫 I'm just stuck here for the rest of my career.

🚫 I've made my bed, and now I have to keep lying in it.

Have you ever said these things to yourself?

Well, this episode is for you!

You have a choice. You always have a choice. Even when it doesn't;t seem like you do, you do. You may not like a particular choice's consequences or potential outcome, but it doesn't mean you don't have one.

This episode is a manifesto, a call to arms to get you thinking differently.

To get you to embrace your power to choose and not give it away by throwing your arms up in despair and accepting that things have to be the way they are.

Listen to the end for a simple exercise you can implement now to start changing the language you use and require your thoughts.

I won't make you quit your job

I won't make you quit your job

In this week's episode, I talk about a conversation with a friend.

We were having a conversation and talking about what I've been doing in terms of coaching, the content I've been sharing., and that I'm looking to do more speaking events.

And they said I wouldn't want you speaking in my organisation.

    I laughed!

They meant it in the nicest possible way. And it was a little bit tongue in cheek. But the general gist was that everybody would want to leave if I spoke at their organisation and to their team.

For the record, I won't make you quit; that's not what I do.

Check out the episode to find out what I do and how that helps you. 😉

Open, honest and inspiring!

I love the variety of people interviewed in this podcast as well as Ryan’s solo podcasts. They are inspiring, open and honest and make you consider issues from a very different perspective.

Love it

As a city professional constantly looking for that ever elusive ‘balance’ - I’ve really enjoyed this series so far. It’s honest and personal, and gives me a lot to think about. This should be recommended listening for all big law professionals
