TAKE Your Opportunities & NEVER Give Up - Advice To Teenagers (Recorded Live)

Tommy G Talks - Episode 149: TAKE Your Opportunities & NEVER Give Up - Advice To Teenagers (Recorded Live)

This episode is a recording of a live talk I delivered in front of 200x 15-17 year olds.
I was asked to go in and deliver this talk to 5 different age groups at a local secondary school, as part of their careers day.

It's always an honour to deliver talks like this, and I hope that you can take at least 1 thing away from this very honest and open presentation around taking opportunities, saying YES, challenging yourself and then being resilient enough to keep the journey alive.

Don't give up on your dreams.

Tommy G Talks - Episode 147: [TEA WITH TOMMY G SERIES EP3] w Perry Cocking:
Football Coach: Don't Ruin The Parent/Child Relationship! (Ways to support your sporty child)

I've known Perry for just over 15 years. We played football together, we've worked on a few projects together and I have seen his Coaching business and journey evolve to the stage of being one of the most influencial, leading voices in the Youth Football coaching space!

In this episode, we dive deeper into some of the challenges, and hidden problems that can arise by "trying to do the right thing" by supporting your sporty children...But creating the opposite. A negative emotional experience and potentially damaging your relationships.

If you've got a sporty child or you're a youth coach yourself, this is the conversation for you.

As always, let me know your thoughts.

Building a Gin Empire: Sometimes You Just Have To Start! | Tea with Tommy G - Ep2 w Kate Griffin

Tommy G Talks - Episode 146: [TEA WITH TOMMY G SERIES EP2] w Kate Griffin - Wessex Spirits & The Gin Palace.
Episode 2 of Tea with Tommy G brings you a very open and honest conversation with Kate Griffin, the Founder of Wessex Spirits and The Gin Palace in Andover.
I have been getting to know Kate and her fantastic business well over the last few months. We at Tide 55 have been working with her and her team to help grow online bottle sales and local footfall into the amazing venue that is The Gin Palace.
I wanted to share her story with you. But not just the story she tells everyone that comes in for a drink. I wanted to dig a little deeper into the WHY and the HOW she came to be where she is now.
So in this episode, you will hear how Kate went from being a Teacher, to throwing out her teaching books, having no "job", with 2 young children to look after, and an idea to start making her own gin.
Local business is really important and I hope that this helps bring the awareness up for the people and the businesses that are out there flying the flag for Andover, our local community. (as well as the wider economy)
You can see more from Wessex Spirits and book a gin tasting session or drop in for a drink at the Gin Palace here:

Make sure you tag @ WessexSpirits in your answer to Kate's amazing question.

Your Pain Can Become Your Power | Tea With Tommy G - Ep1 w Harri Pereira

Your Pain Can Become Your Power | Tea With Tommy G - Ep1 w Harri Pereira

    Tommy G Talks - Episode 145: [TEA WITH TOMMY G SERIES EP1] w Harri Pereira - Mindset X

It's time to step it up a bit.
I've had a podcast for a few years now, but I feel we need to take it up a notch.
I have launched on a project that I have wanted to do for a few years now.
Introducing: Tea with Tommy G - My new and improved way of bringing you guest interviews that consist of real talk, real challenges and real confidence.
We talk about life, death and all the ups and downs along this amazing journey.
In this very first episode, I connect with a man that shares a lot of parrallels and similarities to me.
Not just in terms of interests and career path, but also in terms of things that have happened in our lives that we would much rather didn't.
I am all about transforming "challenge into confidence" and with Harri, he has (and continues) to do just that. I wanted to do an episode on "seasonal grief" the pain that we feel when we are reminded, or we miss someone that has passed away.
I knew that Harri would be able to help me get to the levels of conversation that this topic deserves.
I really do hope you enjoy this chat. In honour of you and to those that are no longer with us.
Remember to tag us both when you answer his question to you at the end!

Do Kids Need To Feel Failure? (The Importance of Youth Participation in Sport)

Do Kids Need To Feel Failure? (The Importance of Youth Participation in Sport)

Tommy G Talks - Episode 144: Do Kids Need To Feel Failure? (The Importance of Youth Participation in Sport)

“Kids need to learn how to lose…and sport gives them that lesson.”
As Chairman of The Jamie G Sporting Trust, I am always championing the importance of participation in sport for young people under the age of 18.
Sport can expose us to and teach us so much at an early age.
I believe that it is essential for children to understand that they don't always win.
It’s beneficial to a young person to know that they can and will fail. That things won’t always go to plan.
Within the safe frameworks of sport, this allows for resilience to be built and the ability to look inside.
To notice how they feel about certain outcomes when they don't go they hoped/intended, and then what steps/actions/practice needs to be done in order to improve.
To learn that we can only ever control and account for our own efforts.
Because it’s actually not about winning and losing as such…it’s more about self improvement, skill progression, expression, teamwork, dealing with pressure and building discipline. To feel good about it. To enjoy the experience, and to develop self belief.
    A valuable lesson indeed.
We also have the more obvious benefits such as the physical and mental health advantages and the social relationships and skill development too.
Participantion is on the decline. We must recognise the value and increase our effort and energy to ensure these lessons are being learned through schools, clubs and organisations.
By creating safe spaces for self expression, not hinging everything on the W/L outcome, but instead the lessons learned from “the taking part”.
As adults, parents, coaches…what can we do to improve? How can we set a better example?
How can we help to facilitate more positive exposure to sport at a young age?

    What do you think?

Honesty

It’s refreshing to hear someone speak honestly, to make you belief in yourself again, knowing that you were always on the right track you just stopped believing in yourself. A guy who genuinely cares about helping anyone and everyone. There is so much in the media these days and marketing the latest hype which made me stop listening to myself but instead believing the noise around me. Listening to Tommy’s podcast has regain my thoughts again. For example, I have friends who are obsessed at weighing themselves but I have probably done it less than my fingers on one hand. A number doesn’t define you, our weight is combined of a number of things and that’s just some of the things he talks about. As well as mindset, happiness, wellbeing and sharing interviews with like minded people. There’s no pressure, there’s no fad or quick wins, it’s just pure honesty and that goes with the flow! There’s nothing more simple than getting in the car, plugging in your phone and listen to a podcast. That’s what I do, or have a listen as I’m getting ready to start my day.

Thank you Tommy, for doing what you do and being you!
