    Episode 1: Gestation

    Episode 1: Gestation

We are very excited to announce a brand new regular podcast feature: We've Got Worm, our close reading, and discussion of the cult web serial novel Worm.

Scott will be reading Worm for the first time and walking us through his impressions as he goes. Matt, who has read the whole series, will serve as Virgil to his Dante, guiding the discussion without spoiling what is to come. We believe this podcast will have a little something for everyone; whether you're a fan revisiting text or a first-time reader.
This week, the guys are walking through the first "arc" of the story, titled Gestation.

    Episode 5: Hive

We are back with another episode of our weekly show dissecting the web serial Worm, arc by arc. As always, Parahumans expert Matt leads first time reader Scott on an epic journey where they discuss, debate, and nerd out on this excellent book.
This week the guys tackle Arc 5: Hive. You've all probably noticed that Matt's voice is a little...er...robotic this episode. We had an issue with our recording that resulted in a much lower sound quality for Matt than we're used to. Sound quality is really important to both of us and normally we would have just scrapped this recording and started over, but we were so happy with how the conversation turned out that we decided to just release it as is. If you can please bear with us for this one week, we promise the quality will be back to what you're used to for episode 6 and beyond.

This week the guys tackle Arc 6: Tangle. This is such a huge, monumental arc that we have a huge monumental episode for you. Over two hours of discussion, debate, and even some disagreements for you. Taylor's final decision is at hand and the guys are there to analyze the crap out of it.

Wonderfully insightful

I was never one to excel in my English classes back in school, and literary analysis made me want to bash my head against a wall. And yet, this podcast still got through to me and made me think about Wildbow’s work (and writing in general) to a much higher degree. I don’t think Worm or Ward would be half the books they are to me if I hadn’t been pushed to not just notice themes, but to question and come to my own opinions on them. Matt and Scott’s insights into storytelling are always thoughtful and detailed, and I find even areas where I disagree with their reads or conclusions still valuable to gaining a more complete view of the text.
TLDR: this podcast is pretty great, and I can’t wait to see what they’ll do now that Ward is wrapping up.

Making my favorite books better

This show has increased my enjoyment and appreciation of my two favorite books by a factor of at least 1.25 while being entertaining all on its own. I've listened along with Scott and Matt for all of Worm and Ward, and every episode so far analysing the chapters has provided valuable insight that I never would've had on my own. Even if you're a strong reader, I still recomend this show. It's at the very least a nice way to enjoy Worm and Ward again if you don't feel like rereading the books.

WGW and DiP are the only reasons I have a podcast app. There are few better uses of time than to listen to the fine people of Doof discussing the various masterpieces of Wildbow and if you have yet to experience either then now is your chance.
