Really enjoyed listening to these- gives a refreshing perspective and opens ears and eyes to some finer males traits and what men actually want / need in terms of support.

I speak with over 45 years experience of both counselling and therapy. Both extremely challenging and growth promoting. Whilst not qualified in either field I am told I have far more experience of ‘person centred’ counselling than most qualified councillors. The clips I have listened to on the site appear all about “talking about” emotional experiences in a cerebral context. They don’t convey anything, that I have heard so far, of people sharing emotionally how they feel. Men are renowned for not showing their feelings and from my experience most men have no idea how to express themselves emotionally. Parents bring boys up to ‘man up’ and not to show their feelings. How then can those men express themselves and their pent up worries and fears in an emotional way? From my experience they have to learn from those ‘who can’ talk in such a way. Councilling or as I call it Fire Brigade support might help greatly getting through a crisis but only an un-structured ‘facilitated’ support group will move people on so they can become more secure and mature. These recorded conversations ‘may?’ Be the starting blocks for somebody going down this road but the subtleties of counselling go way beyond the cerebral conversations I have heard. Sorry to disappoint but I talk from many years of help following a damaged childhood.
