Mayor Olivia Chow's version of the city budget was released this week, and one of us was there in person at the Scarborough Town Centre to hear about it. The tax rate's a bit lower, the feds came through with some money, the police still didn't get as much as they want. So what do we think? And what's left to fight about? The clear-as-mud messaging on vaccines and how to fix it

To many doctors across Canada, the latest statement from the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) left a lot to be desired. Annamie Paul and the Green Party: what it reveals about Canada's misogynoir problem

Guest: Erica Ifill, columnist for the Hill Times Green party leader Annamie Paul's resignation came after a defeat in her own Toronto Centre riding but it was a long time coming. After the party's own internal report leaked earlier this year and revealed the extent of systemic racism within, many said that she was set up to fail and the outcome was built into the system from the onset. A study of Paul's journey as leader of the Green Party of Canada has also been considered by many as a microcosm of misogynoir, and the systemic failures reserved only for the Black and racialized women. Erica Ifill, columnist for the Hill Times, co-host of the "Bad + Bitchy" podcast and founder of equity and inclusion consultancy Not in My Colour, joins "This Matters" to help unpack whether it's "just politics" when a strong, outspoken Black Jewish woman steps away from her platform and potential, or was this a sinister reflection of Canada's real problem with racial double standards.

A scientist makes the case against Daylight Saving Time

Guest: Patricia Lakin-Thomas, York University professor It is time to spring forward! Daylight Saving Time begins this weekend. Clocks shifting ahead an hour on Sunday not only may make you feel a little tired, it's a much bigger deal than you may think. To some scientists, changing the time twice a year — which is not done in large parts of the world — is one of the world's biggest experiments, and generally points to negative outcomes like an increase in heart attacks and traffic accidents. The problems don't end there and thus, there are movements to abolish it. Today we speak to Patricia Lakin-Thomas, a York University biology professor who runs the Clock Lab.

Renovictions and tenants rights: How the city is trying to help renters
