Sohaib Sultan
Sohaib Sultan was the first full-time Muslim Life Coordinator and Chaplain at Princeton University, where he served with distinction in supporting students’ spiritual and personal development. Sohaib Sultan earned his Master’s degree in Islamic Studies and Christian-Muslim Relations from Hartford Theological Seminary, where he also completed a Graduate Certificate in Islamic Chaplaincy. As one of the early pioneers in the field of Muslim chaplaincy in America, he helped shape the role of the Muslim chaplain on college campuses and in broader institutional settings. Sohaib Sultan’s academic and professional work focused on Islamic spirituality, psychology, and the cultivation of compassionate religious leadership. He took a deep interest in the transformative power of Islamic preaching, culminating in a master’s thesis titled *Preaching with Purpose: Writing and Delivering Great Sermons*. Through this work, he emphasized the importance of authenticity, clarity, and impact in the delivery of Islamic sermons, particularly in a contemporary American context. Beyond his chaplaincy role, Sohaib Sultan regularly engaged with students and the public through lectures, writing, and interfaith dialogues. He was known for his gentle demeanor, deep empathy, and ability to connect Islamic teachings with the challenges of modern life. His legacy continues through the many lives he touched, as well as the institutional frameworks for Muslim chaplaincy he helped establish and inspire.
