Patient Kathleen: How I Got Life Flighted To My Nose Job

For our patient Kathleen Lisson, an accident while hiking in the desert led to a broken nose, which led her straight to Dr. Brahme for a rhinoplasty… and while he was at it, a face lift, brow lift, neck lift, chin implant, fat transfer to her cheeks, and a septoplasty to fix her deviated septum. Not everyone seeks cosmetic surgery for aesthetic reasons; sometimes it’s necessary following an accident or injury. Meet The Team: Janine Kier, Licensed Aesthetician

Janine Kier is new to LJC as an aesthetician at our Carlsbad location, but she’s been working in skin care for 25 years. She loves doing treatments that make dramatic changes, such as HydraFacials or chemical peels, because watching patients gain confidence is priceless. Her interest in aesthetics stemmed from her grandmother always making sure she took care of her skin growing up, from wearing homemade face masks to using umbrellas in the sun. No matter how many push-ups or sit-ups you do, you can’t stop your hair from falling out or your face from losing volume. Aging typically results in a slower metabolism and weight gain in the wrong places, and the “dad bod” starts to appear. Meet the Team: Ruth D., RN, BSN

Nurse Ruth has served patients at LJC for almost twenty years, mostly as Dr. Lori Saltz’s nurse and right hand. Ruth’s earliest introduction to LJC was through her father who served the practice as an accountant in the early years. After nursing school, she worked for several years as an emergency room and urgent care nurse before landing a position at LJC at age 27. She loved LJC so much, the rest is history! After working alongside now-retired plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Roark, she had an opportunity to join Dr. Lori Saltz’s team. It only took a moment for Ruth and Dr. Lori Saltz to figure out they loved to care for patients together, and nearly two decades later they are still a tremendous team who read each other’s minds and finish each other’s sentences. How Charisse Lost 192 Lbs & Got Epic Body Lift Results

After a lifetime trapped in her body, Charisse changed her relationship with food and lost 192 pounds. Left with painful loose skin, she researched plastic surgeons with body lift experience in Houston and reached out to Dr. Basu for help. Over 300 pounds at her heaviest, Charisse recalls the moment on a cruise ship that pushed her to change her life.
