    Omaha This Week: Vinton Street Silos, TreeRush & Oktoberfest

    What’s happening in Omaha this week? We’re covering a proposed redevelopment of the Vinton Street grain silos, fall events and activities around the Omaha metro, TreeRush Adventures at Fontenelle Forest, Oktoberfest, local restaurants and a brand-new attraction opening on the Council Bluffs riverfront. We start with the future of the old grain elevator and silos along Vinton Street in Omaha, Nebraska. A redevelopment proposal could demolish much of the familiar industrial landmark to make way for four apartment buildings with 233 market-rate units. The Hurrdat ONE team talks about Omaha’s growth and a question facing a changing city: when should old Omaha landmarks be preserved, and when does redevelopment make sense? Jill previews TreeRush Adventures at Fontenelle Forest in Bellevue, Nebraska, a three-hour outdoor climbing experience featuring aerial courses, zip lines, bridges and obstacles through the forest. Dan visits Sauced by Alfaro in Papillion, Nebraska, as part of his search for some of the Omaha metro’s best food. He tries the Jalapeño Popper Cheesesteak and explains why he considers it one of the best sandwiches he’s had in the area. We also talk about supporting chef and owner Michelle Alfaro and her local restaurant. Colette previews the new Borman Family Treetop Walk and MidAmerican Energy Adventure Tower opening on the Council Bluffs riverfront near the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, with climbing, rollgliding, simulated caving and elevated woodland trails.
