5. με ποιο χρώμα ταιριάζει το πετρόλ;

When we were decorating our new flat, I geniunely thought I had aphantasia because my mind's eye was showing me *nothing*. Would a yellow carpet fit in the office? Who knows. Would beige curtains clash with the blue pastel walls? Your guess is as good as mine - perhaps even better, as I couldn't even guess. I thankfully resorted to pinterest boards and colour wheels and now I still don't have curtains because, turns out, I don't like beige! What a time to be alive. • here's the transcript • here are the greek lessons • drop me a message: sixthousandislands (at) gmail (dοt) cοm Support the show

4. η κυρία Σκαγιά ξέρει από τετράδια

Popi Skagia loves BTS, traveling, learning new things and she runs Greece's biggest stationery company, the one her father founded 70 years ago. There isn't a single greek person in the last three generations that doesn't know or love SKAG. Having Mrs. Skagia on the podcast is a privilege and a joy, but most of all it's a masterclass in gratitude and humility whilst serving the people around you in the best possible way. • here's the transcript • here are the greek lessons • drop me a message: sixthousandislands (at) gmail (dοt) cοm Support the show

3. tailgate party με τον Jake

American Football is a subject I was completely unfamiliar with. I’ve always watched the Halftime Show because I need to know if someone can do it better than Beyoncé, Shakira, Kendrick and Lady Gaga but other than that, I had never paid attention to the sport itself. BUT OH BOY, IT’S FASCINATING. Each game lasts forever but it somehow manages to be thrilling, and my friend and student Jake explained the game as well as the culture surrounding it. SO FUN! • here's the transcript • here are the greek lessons • drop me a message: sixthousandislands (at) gmail (dοt) cοm Support the show

1. πολλές τυχαιότητες μαζεύτηκαν για να γίνω εγώ ανθρωπολόγος

Some people were born to be singers because they live and breathe music. Others were born to be doctors. My darling husband Stamatis was born to be an anthropologist, a science we both adore so much. I’ve always had so many questions, some of which he answers in this episode. • here's the transcript • here are the greek lessons • drop me a message: sixthousandislands (at) gmail (dοt) cοm Support the show

27. είμαστε όλοι φρούτα εδώ (season finale)

‘Business’ behaviour has never come naturally to me. What is a KPI? An MVP? A target audience? A pitch? A pivot? Competitive advantage? Are these basketball terms??? Because they sure do sound like basketball terms. Someone years ago told me to ‘watch my competitors’ and I did like my life depended on it but let’s be real, we’re not talking about the stock market here, we’re talking about intermediate greek teaching. My niche is so niche that most students and teachers know each other’s name, occupation and home address; most of us hang out online AND in real life. And you can’t compete with that. • here's the transcript • here are the greek lessons • drop me a message: sixthousandislands (at) gmail (dοt) cοm Support the show

26. όλα όσα συζητήσαμε πριν φτιάξουμε ομελέτα

I met Stamatis and I instantly knew I’d marry him, and three months later, I did. The greatest love story of all time is mine. • here's the transcript • here are the greek lessons • drop me a message: sixthousandislands (at) gmail (dοt) cοm Support the show

25. μαθήματα MLM

Some ‘‘language teacher’’ tried to scam me into joining their MLM scheme which is hilarious in hindsight but OOOO I was angry when it happened. Fraud exists everywhere but it sucks even more when it targets language teachers or students. What we do is important, we have a duty of care to our students and to the languages themselves IT’S ALL SO PRECIOUS PLEASE STOP BEING YUCKY. • here's the transcript • here are the greek lessons • drop me a message: sixthousandislands (at) gmail (dοt) cοm Support the show
