Chronic Symptoms That Don't Add Up? Start Here w/ Juanique Roney

I’m so excited to share this conversation with you—this episode features Juanique, founder of Provo Health. We take a closer look at Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) and what so many people are still missing when it comes to chronic illness, unexplained symptoms, and underlying immune system dysfunction. Here are a few key takeaways from our conversation: 1. What CIRS actually is (and what triggers it) Juanique shares her personal story with CIRS and explains how it’s not just “mold illness.” It’s an immune system dysregulation that can be triggered by multiple stressors—viruses like COVID, environmental toxins like mold, and more. If you’re dealing with symptoms like chronic fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, or just feeling “off,” this conversation will help you better understand what might be happening underneath the surface. 2. Why proper testing matters so much One of the biggest issues with CIRS is that it’s often missed. Standard labs don’t typically look at the inflammatory markers needed for diagnosis, which means many people are left without answers. 3. Turning off the “faucets” Once you identify CIRS, the next step is finding what’s driving the inflammation—whether that’s mold exposure, chronic stress, or hidden infections. But healing doesn’t stop there. We also talk about the importance of actually repairing the body and calming the immune system through a more comprehensive approach. This episode is such an important one for anyone navigating chronic health challenges or trying to make sense of persistent symptoms that haven’t been explained elsewhere. 3. The Science Behind Our New Sports Nutrition Line w/ Dr. Ben Bikman

    11 MAY

The Science Behind Our New Sports Nutrition Line w/ Dr. Ben Bikman

In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Ben Bikman to discuss the science behind our new sports line, focusing on ketones, creatine, and endurance nutrition. We break down how these ingredients support energy production, brain function, and athletic performance—grounded in real science, not hype. 1. Ketones as an alternative fuel source Ketones are naturally produced when the body burns fat for energy. Dr. Bikman explains how they can serve as a powerful alternative fuel for the brain, especially in situations where glucose metabolism is less efficient. Exogenous ketones may help support mental clarity and steady energy without requiring a strict ketogenic diet. 2. Creatine supports both brain and body energy Creatine plays a key role in recycling ATP, the body’s primary energy currency. While commonly associated with muscle performance, it also supports cognitive function. The combination of creatine and ketones is designed to support both physical output and mental performance. 3. Dual-fuel strategy for endurance performance Our new Endurance drink combines glucose and ketones to help sustain energy during prolonged activity. This approach may help spare glycogen stores while supporting consistent performance. Additional ingredients like S7 (for nitric oxide support) and PeakO2 (for mitochondrial efficiency) are included to further support endurance and recovery. Tune in now to learn more—this episode is perfect for anyone looking to improve their health and elevate their performance. Bio: Benjamin Bikman earned his Ph.D. in Bioenergetics and was a postdoctoral fellow with the Duke-National University of Singapore in metabolic disorders. Currently, his professional focus as a scientist and professor (Brigham Young University) is to better understand the role of elevated insulin and nutrient metabolism in regulating obesity, diabetes, and dementia. In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Bikman is the author of "Why We Get Sick” and "How Not to Get Sick" as well as the upcoming book “The Carb Crisis”.  Exciting news! From McNuggets to Mystery Ingredients: What's Really in Your Food w/ Itay Shechter

In this episode, I’m sitting down with Itay—and we’re talking about what’s actually in the foods we’re eating every day. If you’ve ever picked up a product thinking it was a “better-for-you” option, this conversation might change the way you look at your pantry—in the best way. This isn’t about fear or perfection, it’s about becoming more aware and making more intentional choices. Here’s what we talk about: Ultra-processed foods aren’t always obvious So many foods that are marketed as “healthy” are still highly processed. Itay breaks down ingredients and helps us understand what’s really in these products—and why it matters. We talk about why I always encourage focusing on whole, real foods as much as possible. The truth about “natural flavors” Just because something says “natural flavors” doesn’t mean it’s simple or clean. Itay explains how vague that term can be and why it’s something to pay attention to when you’re reading labels. Learning to read labels without overwhelm It’s not about doing everything perfectly. It’s about starting somewhere. Itay shares how learning about ingredients completely changed his health journey, and I really think it will inspire you to start looking at labels a little differently too. My biggest takeaway: You don’t have to change everything overnight. Just start paying attention. Start asking questions. That’s where real change begins. I can’t wait for you to listen to this episode. It’s such a good one and I know you’ll walk away feeling more confident the next time you’re at the grocery store. If you loved this episode, it would mean so much if you shared it with a friend or left a review. It helps us keep bringing you these conversations each week. The Real Reason Gut Disease Keeps Getting Worse w/ Dane Johnson

I’m excited to share our latest podcast episode featuring Dane Johnson, an expert in inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis. This conversation is filled with hope, practical tools, and insight for anyone dealing with chronic illness or wanting to better support their gut health. Here are a few of my biggest takeaways: 1. You can take ownership of your healing journeyDane shares his personal story of going from being housebound and severely ill to rebuilding his health and life. A major turning point for him was stepping into the mindset of becoming the “CEO of his health.”  2. Food philosophy plays a big role in gut healingWe talk about how important it is to think intentionally about food choices. Dane encourages a “food philosophy” approach—looking at the potential impact of every food and how it’s prepared. For those with IBD, this can mean starting with softer, easier-to-digest foods and being mindful with things like raw foods and alcohol, which can be harder on an already inflamed gut. 3. Managing stress is foundational for healingStress has a profound effect on gut health and overall inflammation. Dane talks about building your “shield” against stress by identifying triggers and taking real, practical steps to support your nervous system. This isn’t just about mindset—it’s about action: creating boundaries, making adjustments where needed, and intentionally adding in things that bring calm, joy, and regulation. I really loved this conversation and the hope it brings for anyone navigating chronic illness. There is so much more potential for healing when we start addressing the root pieces. What Do Peptides Do—Besides Help with Weight Loss? w/ Dr. Stuart Porter

In this episode, I’m excited to bring you my conversation with Dr. Porter, an expert in peptides and Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS). This is an eye-opening discussion, especially if you’ve been dealing with things like fatigue, brain fog, or just not feeling like yourself and haven’t been able to find clear answers. We talk about CIRS and how it comes back to chronic inflammation in the body. Dr. Porter explains how so many common symptoms we experience are actually connected to this ongoing inflammatory response and how our immune system, gut health, and overall wellness are all deeply linked. We also dive into peptides—what they are and how they work as signaling molecules in the body. I loved how he broke this down in a simple way. Peptides basically help cells communicate and regulate different functions in the body.  And something I really appreciated from this conversation is Dr. Porter’s reminder that foundations matter most. Before anything else, we have to focus on the basics—eating an anti-inflammatory diet, managing stress, and prioritizing good sleep. Peptides can be supportive, but they’re not a replacement for those core lifestyle pieces. I think you’re really going to love this episode. It’s practical, empowering, and gives a new way to look at chronic health challenges. Let me know what you think after you listen. Bio: Stuart B. Porter, D.O. is a distinguished leader in functional medicine and regenerative therapies. He is board certified in Family Medicine and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. A graduate of Brigham Young University (B.S., Design Engineering, 1984) and Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O., 1988, graduating first in his class), Dr. Porter went on to complete his Family Medicine Residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in 1993. From 2003 to 2021, he served as Regional Dean for A.T. Still University’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in the Utah Region, mentoring hundreds of medical students over decades of academic leadership. He is certified in peptide therapy through the Seeds Scientific Research & Performance (SSRP) Institute and has become a trusted voice in integrating advanced peptide science with functional and regenerative medicine. Dr. Porter is the founder of Integrative Medical Associates in Provo, Utah, and co-founder of Xage Medical Spa, a regenerative aesthetics practice. He loves serving in his religious community and spending time with his wife of 43 fabulous years, his 5 children and 9 (2 of those are on their way!) grandchildren. I’m excited to share our latest podcast episode featuring Brooke Welsh, a women’s health nurse practitioner. This conversation is filled with insights about hormonal health that every woman (and even men!) should hear. Here are a few of my biggest takeaways: Understanding Hormonal ImbalancesBrooke breaks down hormones as the chemical messengers of our bodies and explains how imbalances can show up in so many ways. Social media has made us more aware than ever of these shifts, but awareness is just the start. Brooke talks about root causes—like diet, stress, and environmental toxins —and how they impact our hormonal health. The Role of Diet in Hormone HealthShe talks about how the foods we eat affect our hormones. Brooke points out that the typical American diet is heavy in omega-6s and low in omega-3s, which can contribute to earlier puberty in girls and hormonal issues in both boys and girls. Navigating Hormonal Changes Across Life StagesFrom puberty to postpartum and beyond, Brooke shares her wisdom on how hormones shift at every stage of life. We talk about girls starting periods as early as nine years old and how nutrition can make a difference, as well as postpartum hormone changes and why it’s so important to address them instead of just “waiting it out.” Whether you’re a mom, a young woman navigating puberty, or just curious about your health, there’s something here for you.
