EP 9: It Takes A Village...

Ever wonder how other moms juggle work, family, and self-care without losing their sanity? Do they have a secret superpower, or is there a supportive community backing them? If you are a mother, know a mother, or planning to be one, this is a must-listen.   This episode is all about the village, and how crucial it is for the well-being of both children and mothers. The reality is that being a mom isn't easy, especially without a support system in place. We touch on maintaining a sense of identity amidst the demands of motherhood, finding ways to cover expenses, and the sacrifices made by mothers who lack a village. But it's not all about struggles; we're also sharing advice on generating additional income and how to stay positive in the face of adversity.    In the second half of our episode, we're switching gears to discuss the challenges of parenting as our children grow up and move out, and how our own upbringing influences our approach to parenting. We also address a listener's concern about a friend's relationship and offer guidance on setting boundaries while providing support. Wrapping up, we discuss the often-overlooked topic of financial literacy, the importance of creating a safe space for friends to share their experiences, and our guest Carla's moving journey. So sit back, tune in, and join us on this emotional and enlightening ride.     ‌ Follow Ariel: Instagram: @‌the_arielb TikTok: @‌the_arielb Website: This Too Shall Pass Podcast ‌ Watch Full Video On YouTube ‌ Email your letters/advice questions to thearielbpod@gmail.com Join the email list HERE and dont miss an episode or Exclusive merch drop This podcast is produced and edited by Idea to Launch Productions

This is the time to look back over the past twelve months and all that's happened thus far. Plus, winter poorly baby worries (we're talking rash anxiety, guys), winter colds and flu's and hyper-panicked visits to A&E (oh, we've all been there). But on the other (dafter) side, juicy boots, Christmas party mornings-afters and how best to pronounce Petit Filou. Seriously.

    Episode 170: Amanda Ross

Amanda Ross is a highly influential TV producer who has brought us the likes of Saturday Kitchen which celebrates its 20th anniversary next year, the Richard and Judy show which ran for 9 years, and the book show, Between the Covers, which she is now touring live and presenting herself.  Amanda and her husband and business partner Simon Ross, own and run Cactus TV. Amanda told me that running their own TV company means that they can organise their lives around bringing up their two adopted sons, now aged 16 and 19. TRIGGER WARNING: Amanda also revealed to me that she suffered sexual abuse from her stepfather as a child. She wanted to share her story here, so that other people who might have gone through similar ordeals can, like her, learn that it wasn’t their fault, and that they should not feel guilty about what happened to them. Amanda's other big message is: just do everything with your children because you can take your kids anywhere. It’s just about attitude. Spinning Plates is presented by Sophie Ellis-Bextor, produced by Claire Jones and post-production by Richard Jones. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
