    CoronaCast - Edition 6

    Our final edition comes from the Nature Discovery Centre in Thatcham which is where we started. In this edition, we’ll be hearing from the manager of a local charity for disabled children and young people about how it has had to adapt to the Coronavirus lockdown. We’ll be catching up with the landlord of The Newbuy pub who’s turned his gin distillery into a hand sanitiser factory to supply key workers. And we’re finding out how the Nature Discovery Centre is slowly beginning to re-open when we speak with the centre manager. To mark the end of this series, we end on a musical note with an Irish ballad 'What the Piano Knows' by Dave Corwin and Catherine Ashcroft written to offer hope in a time of great uncertainty and anxiety.     CoronaCast - Edition 5

    In this edition, we’ll be hearing from a single mum in Newbury about how she’s been trying to take care of her child while holding down a full-time job during lockdown. A local youth training organisation is struggling financially due to Coronavirus; we speak to the centre manager. We’ll be learning how a local school has been adapting to changing government guidance. We’ll also look at how the Coronavirus pandemic has sparked an increase in fake news.  You will hear an example and offer some advice on how not to be fooled.     Following Mental Health Awareness Week, we look at 3 voluntary organisations that support Mental Health in West Berkshire. Also, we meet the pub landlord who when forced to close due to the lockdown, turned his pub into a pop-up grocery shop to support the local community.     In this edition, we hear from the leader of Newbury Town Council about how the Council has had to adapt to help the community. The landlord of the Newbury Inn talks about how he turned his gin distillery into a hand sanitiser factory. Laura Farris MP tells us what she thinks about the government’s handling of the Coronavirus pandemic. A local Yoga instructor has put his live classes online and opened them up so that everyone can join for free.     Stephen speaks with the head of a top West Berkshire school to find out how the staff and pupils are coping with the coronavirus pandemic, meanwhile, Paula finds out from the pupils in their own words how the closure of schools is affecting them. We hear from the Mayor of Thatcham about the Town Council’s plans to support the elderly and vulnerable. Also, we learn about the new NHS Responders and a free web site where you can learn to relax and meditate during this stressful time.     CoronaCast - Edition 1

    Stephen and Paula go out for some brisk exercise around Thatcham and take a break while they record the pilot edition of Coronacast. In this edition, Stephen talks to the man organising coronavirus support for the elderly and vulnerable in West Berkshire.  Paula looks at what resources are available online to beat boredom and give ideas to keep the family happy and healthy.  We learn about an online exercise channel on YouTube that’s got a global audience of over 5 million and we speak to some of the shoppers after the first dedicated hour of shopping for the elderly and vulnerable in Thatcham.
