    PMOS: how the new draft NICE guideline could transform diagnosis and care

    In this episode we explore the draft NICE guideline for PMOS (formerly known as PCOS), out for public consultation until 11 August 2026. We're joined by guideline committee members Aled Rees, professor of endocrinology at Cardiff University, and Sharon Manship, a lay member with lived experience of PMOS. Together they discuss how the recent name change, a new annual review, and a stronger focus on earlier diagnosis could transform care for the estimated 1 in 8 women living with the condition.     Changing the course: the NHS's first treatment to delay type 1 diabetes

    NICE has recommended teplizumab for NHS use — the first treatment to delay the onset of symptomatic type 1 diabetes by an average of nearly three years. In this episode, we speak to Lucy Chambers, Head of Research Impact and Communications at Diabetes UK, and Amy Norman, whose daughter Imogen accessed teplizumab through a managed access programme after being identified through the ELSA screening study.     Treating babies at home with oral antibiotics

    In this episode we discuss the recent changes to the NICE guideline for neonatal infections, that mean newborn babies receiving antibiotics in hospital could potentially switch to oral antibiotics and be cared for at home, if they are doing well and responding to treatment.     Endometriosis fertility care and gynaecological cancer guidance

    In this episode of NICE Talks, we're covering some of the most significant guidance updates of the year so far for women's health and cancer care. For the first time, NICE's updated fertility guideline includes a dedicated pathway specifically for people with endometriosis who are trying to conceive — a direct result of patient and clinician voices being heard during public consultation. We then turn to important updates to NICE's suspected cancer recognition and referral guideline, including changes to how ovarian cancer is investigated across different age groups and new guidance on endometrial cancer for people on HRT.     Backing the healthtech that changes lives

    When the right technology reaches the right patient, lives change. In this episode of NICE Talks, we hear directly from people whose lives have been transformed by NICE-recommended healthtech, including a hybrid closed loop system for type 1 diabetes, an implantable cardiac monitor to detect atrial fibrillation following a stroke, and a rapid genetic test that protects newborns from hearing loss caused by a common antibiotic. NICE's chief executive, Jonathan Benger, also shares our plans to support faster, fairer healthtech adoption across the NHS.     The asthma guideline – one year on

    In this episode of NICE Talks, we learn the impact of the joint asthma guideline published in November 2024. Developed collaboratively by the British Thoracic Society, NICE and the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network, the guideline has transformed how asthma is diagnosed and treated across the UK. We hear from frontline clinicians putting the guidance into practice and from those who helped develop it – including a patient who has lived with asthma for 65 years.
