10. Overcoming Overwhelm - Part Three

Welcome to the third and final episode of my three part series on the common things I teach people who come to me to resolve problems with hypnosis. In this episode I’ll be talking about overcoming overwhelm. I often describe overwhelm as feeling like a ball in a pinball machine, just getting bounced around from thing to thing and not landing on anything for very long. We’re overstimulated, trying to do too much, too fast and it can feel out of control. The key to getting out of overwhelm is to focus on one thing at a time. There are two ways that I teach my clients to train their brains to overcome that mind spinning overwhelm. The first is doing a body scan…putting your attention on your physical body is a great way to break the out-of-control thought loops and put your mind into a relaxed state. It’s a little bit of distraction, and works really well and feels so good. The second thing I teach my clients is the Alpha Sequence. This is one of my favorites and with practice you can train your brain to sink into these calm states faster and faster! 9. Changing The Way We Feel – Part Two

8. Changing The Story We Tell Ourselves - Part One

When I work with Hypnosis clients there are three areas that I find are common to almost every issue. The first of these three is our self-talk. That story we’re telling ourselves. The words and sentences running through our minds, those thoughts create our feelings and our feelings motivate all of our actions (our behaviors) and our actions and behaviors create our results. 6. What Should I Eat To Be Healthy? Farrah Tells Us!

In this episode we'll be talking about how hypnosis can help with weight loss, and get some insight from Farrah Minnich. When a person starts hypnosis to lose weight, the best way to deal with that is to deal with the emotion of food, and find out why a person is over eating. Generally overeating is a reaction to the stress and anxiety of a person's life. One of the ways to have a more nutritional and balanced diet is to eat like your grandparents did, cooking your own meals with whole ingredients and not eating processed foods. 5. What Is Hypnosis Really Like? Robin Tells All!

4. Resolve Painful Experiences Today

Today I'm going to talk about how hypnosis can help resolve painful moments from our past, whether it is a specific event or a buildup of smaller events. I'll also share a traumatizing event for me, which may seem trivial to most, but caused years of troubles. Our brains perceive physical and emotional threats in the exact same way, an emotional threat is the same as a roaring lion to our brain. Our brains have a built in negativity bias, meaning we are hardwired to be on the lookout for threats, our ancestors had to be vigilant because any small movement could have been a predator looking to make you dinner. When something intense affects us, it becomes part of our subconscious mind. This is where the beauty of hypnosis comes in, we are able to quickly work through and reframe a fear, so that it reflects reality. 3. Quick & Easy Relaxation Right Now

Today's episode is all about relaxing and managing stress. I will share seven ideas and techniques that you can use quickly and easily. The first technique I want to teach is the Two Breath Hypnosis Technique, which is an exercise to help us check in with ourselves, then unwind and relax. The techniques I am discussing help activate the Vagus Nerve, which is the super connector between our brain and our body. It has many functions, including helping us relax. Splashing cold water on your face triggers this relaxation response. We can also activate the Vagus Nerve by humming loudly or chanting. When stressed, we often take shallow breaths, but by taking big deep breaths we can help our bodies relax. I'll also walk you through the alpha tongue drop technique to help you relax and enter the calm and peaceful alpha brain state. 2. The Four Components of the Mind: The Unconscious Mind, The Subconscious Mind, The Conscious Mind, and The Critical Factor

These four parts work together to systemize our bodily functions, our thought processes and our emotions. Today I'm going to talk about each part of the mind, the protective functions and how hypnosis can help you. The Unconscious Mind controls your autonomic nervous system, it is responsible for all of your bodily functions that you don't even think about. I'll talk about how it's possible to retrain the mind using hypnosis to help with issues like anxiety. The Subconscious Mind is the part of your mind that holds who you are, all your habits, behaviors and even your personality. Listen in to hear how hypnosis can be used to quickly form new thought patterns in the subconscious mind. The Conscious Mind thinks and focuses on the present moment, it's what you are thinking about right now. If you are working through a math problem, you are using your conscious mind. Quieting the conscious mind, so you can access the subconscious mind is why hypnosis works so well. Information is communicated between the conscious and subconscious mind by going through the Critical Factor. The critical factor is like a gatekeeper to our habits and beliefs. Information has to be accepted by the critical factor to become a belief. This is why it is so hard to change limiting beliefs and habits, our critical factor wants to protect what is familiar, not necessarily what's best for us. Hypnosis allows us to bypass this critical factor, to free ourselves from the familiar patterns and create the new programs and beliefs that serve us best.
