Between paying bills, negotiating the demands of our work lives, managing our homes and showing up for the people we love, adulting can feel like constantly striving.. and failing to meet an endless list of competing priorities and desires - with little space for ourselves. Join Jade Scott, a journalist in her early thirties in transition, as she speaks to guests about the complications of adulting that we don’t often name.     J is for Joy

    After existing in the energy of survival for way too long, Jade Scott is in the pursuit of pleasure. In a culture that calls on us to divert our energy and resources away from ourselves, she meets three women in their happy places, as she considers the virtues of creating space for pleasure. She joins Addie, a vintage-fashion enthusiast, in Nottingham, as they explore dopamine dressing and the art of seizing the day through thrifted fashion. She also meets Dre, a London-based gardener passionate about the potentiality of seeds, and Kadija, an alt-soul singer who found roller skating at a time when many of us were trying to keep sane.     No Man is an Island

    What do the words ‘gone too soon’ mean to you? For Jade Scott these words are haunting and evoke memories of her father and a generation of black men who, like him, met their deaths prematurely. More than a decade on from his passing Jade speaks to black men about their interior lives. She asks where are the spaces for black men to experience love and care in community - while black fathers reflect on grief and loss in a culture that requires the giving of the body for the survival of the family.
