The Secret to Motivate PDA Kids Internally When They Reject Every External Demand #24

Constant demand avoidance can leave you feeling exhausted and stuck. But behind the refusal lies an utterly fascinating internal world where your kids are building, tinkering, creating, designing, and wrestling with big ideas. Many kids with PDA are secretly pushing and challenging themselves in ways no external reward or consequence could ever match.  Discover how shifting your perspective from "external compliance" to "internal drive" helps tap into your child's natural, self-directed motivation. PODCAST SPECIAL : Istiqomah Mendukung Bakat Anak Sesuai Syariah

2 Corinthians 5 | Living a Life That Is Pleasing to God | Michelle Homchuck

When Christ comes into our lives, He changes the way we think and our desires—our ambition and our passion now becomes Christ.” God has done everything for us. He has loved us despite our sin, failures and lack. He chose YOU. And as you pursue Him, He begins to refine and sanctify you. He gently leads you and teaches you how to walk in a way that is pleasing to Him. He opens your eyes to opportunities to serve Him and love others. Listen in to hear these humbling truths from 2 Corinthians 5 as we talk with our Maine State Coordinator, Michelle Homchuck. The Moms in Prayer Podcast is a part of the Christian Parenting Podcast Network. To find practical and spiritual advice to help you grow into the parent you want to be visit ChristianParenting.org ABOUT OUR GUEST My husband and I have served at a church in Central Maine that began in our home over 20 years ago. I first experienced Moms in Prayer (MIP) through the invitation of a friend. My four children were all still young and homeschooled at the time. Seeing the need to pray for them, I quickly gravitated to a MIP group and found encouragement and power through praying scripture. My involvement in MIP has changed everything in our family and church life and I have witnessed the Lord do exceedingly abundantly more than I asked or thought. He has been faithful through one child’s prodigal season and I have seen Him work in each of my children’s lives to deepen their personal relationship with Him. Now I have the privilege of praying for my grandchildren as well. One of my passions is to reach out to new moms and teach them the heart of prayer for their little ones. My hope is that my own journey will encourage other women to begin praying for their children while they are young and keep going, even when they have grandchildren. LINKS New to Moms in Prayer? How to Disagree With Your Kids Without Fighting

Do you know how to disagree with your kid without a fight breaking out? Most of us have been told that the fix for a bad disagreement is more empathy — really try to see it from their side. But Julia Minson, negotiation researcher at Harvard's Kennedy School, joins Dr. Aliza Pressman to share what her experimental research actually shows: telling someone to "try harder to empathize" barely changes the outcome of a conflict. Instead, Julia and Aliza dig into why disagreement has gotten so much more fraught in families, what really makes someone feel heard, and a concrete, teachable framework for disagreeing with your kids, your partner, or anyone else without torching the relationship. What you’ll learn: Why "try to see it from their perspective" doesn't actually work, according to the research "Listening with your words": the specific language that proves you're actually paying attention The "curiosity sandwich" — a script for disagreeing without abandoning your own point of view Argue, don't fight: how to model constructive disagreement in front of your kids The HEAR framework: hedge, emphasize agreement, acknowledge, and reframe to the positive 🔗 RESOURCES & LINKS: 📖 Buy Julia Minson's book, How to Disagree Better https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/774525/how-to-disagree-better-by-julia-minson/ 📱 Follow Raising Good Humans Podcast on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/raisinggoodhumanspodcast/ 📧 Follow Raising Good Humans with Dr. Aliza Pressman on Substack: https://dralizapressman.substack.com/ 🎙️ Follow Raising Good Humans Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/raising-good-humans/id1473072044 📖Order "The 5 Principles of Parenting" by Dr. Aliza Pressman: https://www.amazon.com/Principles-Parenting-Essential-Raising-Humans/dp/166801453X This episode is brought to you by: Great Wolf Lodge: With 22 lodges across the country, you’re always only a short drive away from adventure. • Ep 2: Have We Forgotten How to Discipline?

    Season 1, Episode 2

Ep 2: Have We Forgotten How to Discipline?

There are a lot of different approaches to discipline, and they’ve changed wildly in America over the decades. On one end of the spectrum, there’s the old school, 1950s approach: spanking. Then, there are middle-ground approaches: time-outs, warning systems, consequences, and punishments. And then, there are the fairly new approaches on the way other end of the spectrum. These are the kind of approaches that claim that the right way to parent is not to punish your child, but rather to help your child understand why they’re frustrated and to help them work through their frustration. “Gentle parenting”—sometimes called “respectful parenting” or “attentive parenting”—has become really popular in the last few years, and if your social media feeds are anything like ours, you’ve heard all about it and been told you need to do it. The question many parents are asking is: We have been told that spanking was bad, and we shouldn’t go back to it. But have we gone too far in the other direction? Has gentle parenting led us to permissive parenting, where kids are learning that they can do whatever they want, whenever they want? And yes, there are consequences of being too hard on your kids, but what are the consequences of being too soft on them? Today: How should we be disciplining the next generation of kids? And have we gotten too soft on them along the way?  *** Resources from this episode: Abigail Shrier: Bad Therapy: Why the Kids Aren’t Growing Up Dr. Thomas Phelan: 1-2-3 Magic: Gentle 3-Step Discipline for Calm, Effective, and Happy Parenting Dr. Becky Kennedy: Good Inside: A Guide to Becoming the Parent You Want to Be Hal Chaffee: How to Spank Your Kids the Right Way
