Psychogenic Longevity: How Your Mindset Rewires Your Body with Dr. Srini Pillay

What if the most dangerous inflammation in your body actually starts in your mind?  In this special two-part episode, I’m joined by my longtime friend and collaborator Dr. Srini Pillay. Srini is a multi-talented Harvard‑trained psychiatrist, author, musician, and pioneer of psychogenic longevity, and he's here with us to unpack the hidden connection between stress, inflammation, and how you actually live your life. Dr. Srini also wrote a musical and we've written quite a few songs together which we hope to share soon. Srini has spent years at the cutting edge of neuroscience and human potential, asking a very simple but revolutionary question: Can changing the way we think about stress and possibility actually transform our bodies and even how we age? In this episode, you'll hear:  How to become anti-fragile by using stress to heal instead of harm your bodyThe real difference between self‑deprivation and self‑sabotage  How harnessing the psychology of possibility can change the physical state of your bodyHow to reclaim the magic of being human as AI rapidly reshapes our world In this special episode, you'll also hear a bit more about how you can join our collaborative projects, events, and retreats at Amrit Ocean Resort with Dr. Srini Pillay.  Find Dr. Srini Pillay and his work at:  Join us for upcoming events and retreats: https://dspmedia.ai/jointhesociety/Join us online: https://dspmedia.ai/thesocietyonline/Website: https://drsrinipillay.com/Harvard Health Publishing: https://www.health.harvard.edu/authors/srini-pillay-mdLaw of Attraction Course: https://loacourse.drsrinipillay.com/Substack: https://drsrinipillay.substack.com/Medium: https://drsrinipillay.medium.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SriniPillayMD/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drsrinipillay/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/drsrinipillayIf you'd like a brain reset retreat, perhaps with some surprise music, come join us on the beach in Florida with Harvard-trained doctors Dr. Srini Pillay and Dr. Uma Naidoo. Rewire Your Brain using Flow States with Neuroscientist Dr. Lana Morrow

If light and sound rewire the brain, could targeted frequencies also help reverse trauma, concussion, and even Parkinson’s‑like symptoms? What if shamanic traditions, Native American lore, Vedic meditation, and modern brain science all point to the same solution? My guest today is Dr. Lana Bach-Morrow — a pioneering neuroscientist, inventor, CEO, and spiritual explorer who works with frequencies, light, and consciousness to heal the body, brain and spirit. After being knocked out and injured in a hit-and-run last year with serious post-concussion syndrome, I've completed several transformative sessions with Dr. Lana's brain-computer interface to help heal my brain. Her invention uses gamified light, sound and frequency to help achieve flow states, calm the amygdala (which often over-fires and locks us into fight-or-flight), and heal and regenerate pathways in the brain and nervous system. In addition to rapidly improving my coordination and reflexes, the most remarkable effect I've experienced so far is a dramatic increase in REM sleep and dream recall. She's definitely onto something.  In this episode, you're about to discover: What it means to treat neurology and spirituality as a single living system instead of two separate worldsThe difference between music played for money and healing music played from the heartIn a world drowning in noise, manipulation and fear, why authenticity is the “currency of the future” Why some places instantly calm your nervous system while others feel like you’re sitting in a microwaveAnd more...Find Dr. Lana Bach-Morrow and her work at:  Website: ThinkInterfaces.comInstagram: @drlanamorrow If you want to keep in touch about the exciting events coming up soon, I've got live shows, music, and speaking gigs in Austin, Nashville, Las Vegas, Florida and many more. How to Create High-Performing, High-Trust Teams with Dr. Colin Fisher

Have you ever sat in a pointless meeting wondering, "what am I even doing here?' Imagine if meeting up with fellow humans felt less like a slow-motion train wreck… and more like a great jam session—where everyone’s locked in, connected, and creating something truly inspirational none of you could have created alone. Some call this concept the mastermind, when your group becomes more than the sum of its parts, creating something altogether much more expansive and, at its best, transcendent. On today’s show, we’re here with Dr. Colin Fisher, professor, jazz trumpet player, and author of The Collective Edge, talking about the real science of group dynamics, creativity, and leadership. Dr. Fisher has spent his career studying why some teams become far more than the sum of their parts… while others spiral into dysfunction, groupthink, and soul‑sucking meetings that could have easily been an email. If you’ve ever watched a brilliant team of superstars underperform and fail spectacularly, this conversation will give you a totally new lens on how human dynamics actually work, and how to build teams that launch you into the stratosphere. In this episode, we dig into: How to handle the person who sucks all the air out of the room (without making it personal)Why 60% of a team’s performance is decided before the first meeting even happensWhat jazz improvisation can teach us about flow, trust, and spontaneous collaboration at workWhy the “lone genius” is a myth of marketingWhy we desperately need to talk about what AI is already doing to our teamsAnd much more..Find Dr. Colin Fisher and his work at:  Website: ColinMFisher.comBook: The Collective Edge: Unlocking the Secret Power of GroupsSubstack: https://colinmfisher.substack.com/ Instagram: @ColinMFisherInstagram: @TrumpetFisherYouTube: @DrColinMFisherLinkedIn: @ColinMFisherPlease take a moment to make sure you’re subscribed wherever you listen to podcasts, and to stay up-to-date, sign up for my newsletter at AbelJames.com. Why Trying to Calm Down is Stressing You Out with Dr. Rebecca Heiss

Feeling a little stressed lately? You're certainly not alone. Counterintuitively, instead of beating yourself up for not being able to calm down and eliminate stress altogether, consciously taking on more stress can actually make you perform better. It's strange but true: "When you need something done, give it to a busy person."  Stress doesn't need to paralyze you or bowl you over, it's a natural energy that can be directed and used to your advantage. The problem is that our ancient brains can't keep up with modern threats. As our guest puts it: tigers of the savanna have transformed into a snarling inbox. Since avoiding stress is impossible, what if we stopped trying to "reduce stress" and instead learned to open the floodgates, harnessing our natural energy to use stress as a source of strength, focus and momentum? In this age of unprecedented technological change and and crippling career insecurity, how can we conquer fear and regain clarity and confidence in the face of uncertainty? Today we're here with Dr. Rebecca Heiss, a stress physiologist, researcher, keynote speaker, and author of the new book Springboard. Her work has been called transformative by the National Science Foundation, and after this episode, you’ll understand why. In this episode, you’ll learn: Why telling a stressed out person to calm down is the worst possible thing you can doWhy stress management workshops make us more stressedHow rugged individualism is fueling a stress epidemic, especially for menWhy adults desperately need more play, community, and shared challenge — and how that protects your brainWhy we’re more afraid of snakes, spiders, and public speaking than the tiny daily choices that quietly steal years off our livesAnd much more...If you’re feeling overwhelmed, burned out, or stuck in your own head, this conversation will help you see stress in a totally different light — not as something to escape, but as natural energy you can channel and direct to launch you to the next level of success. Why Future-Oriented Pharmacists Prescribe Deadlifts with Dr. Jae Koonce

Why do we wait until it's almost too late to take our health seriously? If you've ever experienced a rock bottom moment, you know it can be a powerful catalyst to take radical ownership over your life and your results. This weeks guest suggests that your health and physique is your “proof of work”—visible, undeniable evidence of your daily routines and values. Today, we're here with Dr. Jae Koonce, PharmD, certified personal trainer, Bitcoiner, and founder of Proof of Work Fitness.  Jae is one of a kind—he's as comfortable leading advanced mobility drills in a pharmacy picnic as he is whipping up squirrel stew deep in the woods.  Along those lines, what's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten? Mine is probably guinea pig in Peru (scrumptious), random fried crickets and bugs in Thailand (not recommended), or maybe the toughest old bear meat on earth from the backwoods in New Hampshire (not for the faint of heart). But when it comes to hunting and cooking wild game, this week's guest might just teach you how to survive the zombie apocalypse in style.  In this episode, you'll discover: How to design your life to show up day after day, especially when things get toughHow to treat health as a compounding investment and dollar-cost-average your workouts by taking one small, consistent step at a timeWhy community is a superpower and surrounding yourself with goal-driven people accelerates transformationWhy tiny habits create an enormous change in your trajectoryAnd much more...Jae’s journey is as honest and actionable as it gets.
