    After weeks of hustle, I'm finally in a phase where I can focus on practicing and enjoying music for the sheer joy of it. It’s a refreshing change!   But I know many of us feel the weight of expectations to always be productive. We think we should be working harder, promoting ourselves more, or achieving something grand.   What if we allowed ourselves to explore different creative directions and passions?   Our artistic journeys don’t have to be linear. It’s okay to embrace joy and creativity, even if it doesn’t directly pay the bills right now.  (As long as SOMETHING is paying the bills, let's be real!)  So, the next time you find yourself feeling guilty for pursuing what makes you happy, remember: your artistry matters!  I’d love to hear your thoughts!     Double Keyed: Bringing a Big Vision to Life

    Following their Billboard-charting and award-winning album Midwinter’s Gift, Kirstin Myers and Frances Drost—together known as Double Keyed—continue to delight audiences with heartfelt interpretations of both classical and contemporary music. Their contemplative sound takes listeners on a journey that resonates long after the final note. Formed in 2018, Double Keyed grew out of Kirstin and Frances’s shared desire not only to perform together, but also to offer music that uplifts and leaves audiences with a deep sense of peace. Their first album, Midwinter’s Gift, was recorded in Nashville in 2022 and quickly received national recognition, reaching #13 on Billboard’s “Classical-Crossover” chart. A few months later, it was nominated for the Central Pennsylvania Hall of Fame’s “Best Instrumental Album of the Year” and went on to win “Best Classical-Crossover Album” of 2022. Now, Kirstin and Frances are preparing their second Christmas album, a remarkable follow-up to Midwinter’s Gift. Teaming up again with Nashville arranger and producer Phillip Keveren, this new music will feature the music of the world-class London Symphony Orchestra, recorded at Abbey Road Studios. Double Keyed is currently in full swing raising funds, practicing, and sharing glimpses of this exciting project with audiences.     Joachim Horsley: Superfusion

    In a world where classical music often feels distant and elitist, composer/pianist/arranger Joachim Horsley is breaking barriers and bringing fresh energy to the genre. I really appreciate Joachim's combination of deep seriousness and inclusive creativity  - and I know you will love this conversation. Joachim Horsley is a Composer, Pianist and Arranger, known for his innovative Classical/Afro-Caribbean fusion arrangements. He was nominated for a Latin Grammy last year in the Best Arrangement category for "Bach's Cuban Concerto for Piano and Tres" from his recent album "AFRO BACH." He plays concerts all over the world with his quintet and as a special guests with orchestras, and when he's not on the road, he's in Los Angeles writing music for film and TV, including shows like "Baker and The Beauty" on ABC, "Gordita Chronicles" on HBO MAX and the hit Disney Channel show "Big City Greens," which earned him an Annie Nomination for best score last year as well. Currently working on his next album, "Superfusion," he joins us today from his Los Angeles studio.     Heather Niemi Savage: The Power of Perseverance

    Heather Niemi Savage is a North Carolina-based composer with an eclectic style drawing on her broad background in classical, jazz, musical theater, and sacred music. Her compositions have been performed throughout the United States by ensembles such as the Argus String Quartet, the North-South Consonance, the Great Woods Symphony, and members of the Raleigh Symphony. Her most popular piece “Daughter of the Stars,” for string orchestra, placed second in the 2020 American Prize for Composition (pops/light music  division.) Her piece, “When Music Sounds,” won second place in the Huntsville Master Chorale Composition Competition, making her the first woman to final in this annual competition.  As a collaborative pianist, Heather works with the Appalachian Chorale under Dr. Davaughn Miller in addition to accompanying an undergraduate vocal methods class, local school choruses, and the choir at St. Luke’s UMC in Hickory, NC.
