CALLED TO BE SENT, SENT BECAUSE OF BEING CALLED The theme for our meditation on this Sunday is: Calledto Be Sent, Sent Because of being Called. In the life of faith, we often talkabout vocation and mission as if they were two different things. In fact, thetwo cannot be separated. One’s calling without its mission will lose direction, while a mission without its calling will lose its basis and meaning. When Godcalls someone, in that calling there is already a task that must be carriedout. On the contrary, when God sends a person, that mission is born because Godhas previously called and chosen him. Scripture shows this reality over and over again.Abraham was called to leave his land and at the same time sent to be a blessingto many nations. Moses was called through the burning bush and then sent tofree the Israelites from slavery. The apostles were called one by one by Jesus, not just to be His disciples, but also to go and preach the Kingdom of God. Nocall stops at itself. Every vocation always leads to service and devotion toothers. Sometimes we prefer one of the two. There are thosewho like to talk about calling, but lack the courage to carry out the tasksentrusted to them. There are also those who are so busy with various ministriesthat they forget to take care of their personal relationship with the God who calls. Infact, the call and the mission must go together. A vocation derives strengthfrom closeness to God, whereas a vocation finds its meaning when it ismanifested in tangible action. As believers, we are called not only to enjoyspiritual comfort. God calls us to be instruments of His love in the midst ofthe world. The vocation to be a parent, teacher, priest, monk-nun, worker, orleader always carries a responsibility that brings good to others. Every call always carries a mission. There isno calling to itself. With a mission, the first thing that works is not ourability, but God who calls. This keeps us humble. We are sent not because weare the smartest, holy, or strongest, but because God chooses and trusts us.When faced with difficulties, failures, or rejections, we can return to thesource of that mission, which is the God Himself who has called us from thebeginning. We should continue to maintain unity between vocationand mission. Every time we hear God's voice, we should be ready to step forwardto carry out the task He has entrusted us. And every time we carry out amission, we should not forget to return to the God who calls. It is there thatthe life of faith finds its fullness, when the call becomes service and servicebecomes the answer to God's love. Letus pray. In the name of the Father ... O Lord, on this Sunday, we ask that Yourlove, which You pour out through Eucharistic worship, also bear fruit in thelove for ourselves and that we share with our neighbors. Glory to the Fatherand the Son and the Holy Spirit ... In the name of the Father ...
