    Ever wondered what happens when Superman (George Reeves) swaps his cape for a sales pitch or Uncle Sam? In this obscure 1954 short film, Stamp Day for Superman, Superman busts a burglar who is basically just a guy who didn't have a budget, and Lois Lane gets snagged by his accomplice (who literally just asks her to come get captured, to which she obliges). The moral of the story? Kids should support our country by buying US Savings Stamps!

    Time for some Shaq-Fu! Well, not actually. Today we re-visit Steel (1997), which sees Shaquille O'Neal portray a not-so-super supporting character from the Superman universe. Unfortunately, this movie completely ignores any Superman connection (other than Shaq's real life tattoo). Ultimately, this movie had an identity crisis, which perhaps shouldn't surprise us considering it was a DC property. A PG-13 movie with a script that could have been written for Nickelodeon, Steel was no Space Jam, opening to $870k its first weekend in theaters.

Before George Reeves became an iconic Superman, gracing the silver screen and fighting for the rights of mole people, two serials were produced by Columbia pictures. Today we look at the second serial, which originally ran as 15 weekly chapters before a feature film. Starring Kirk Alyn as Supes, we see Luther (Lyle Talbot) blackmail the city of Metropolis as he threatens to nuke the city with the help of Atom Man (who wears a glittery stormtrooper helmet before stormtroopers existed!).
