Designer Haley J. on Dressing Like the Main Character and Ignoring Fashion Rules | Dinner for Shoes

This week on fashion podcast Dinner for Shoes, I’m joined by designer Haley Emerson, founder of Haley J., the bold, color-driven brand known for its signature pink-and-orange palette and unapologetically glamorous silhouettes. After working in fashion houses in London and New York, Haley launched her namesake label to bring runway-level drama into real life, and she’s never played it safe. Over pink and orange cupcakes (and of course, shoes on the plate), we talk about what it really means to dress like the main character, why she refused to water down her vision to sell, and the reactions that come with designing pieces that demand attention. We also get into: The origin of her now-iconic color palette Who the Haley J. girl is (and who she isn’t) What it really means when you say “I could never pull that off”  Her take on minimalism today If you’ve ever wanted to dress bolder, or just rethink your personal style, this episode is for you. This episode is also supported by Pointelles, known for thoughtfully-designed shoe inserts that smooth creases and prevent wear over time. I Took You Inside New York Fashion Week (Fashion Editor POV) | The Scene

Welcome to the first-ever real Dinner for Shoes vlog. For episode 92, I’m taking you inside New York Fashion Week — aka full-on fashion editor chaos. Come with me to my Alice + Olivia fitting, the Christian Siriano runway show, Kate Spade’s Galentine’s Day event, Ulla Johnson, AREA, Sandy Liang, Cult Gaia, and more . . . plus a few very stressed cab rides in between. You’ll see what fashion week actually looks like from the inside: backstage moments, outfit changes, missed lines while reporting, and the very real panic of thinking you won’t make it to the next show. It’s rare to see a fashion editor document the full experience like this — and making fashion feel accessible (not exclusive) is exactly why I created Dinner for Shoes. Stick around until the end for my full Fall/Winter 2026 trend report, including: Wild Night, Wuthering Heights High, Metallic Midnights, and Gilded Equestrian — plus the color trends you’ll be seeing everywhere: Jewel Tones, Ethereal Peach, Candy Apple Red, Steel-Sky Blue, Dark Yellow, Lime, and Plum. Whether you love runway fashion, street style, or just want to know what really happens during NYFW, this one’s for you. Wedding Dress Designer Hayley Paige & My Planner Spill Bridal Fashion Truths | Dinner for Shoes

Wedding dress designer Hayley Paige (of recent Super Bowl fame!) and luxury wedding planner Julia Noelle Ferrigno join Dinner for Shoes host Sarah Wasilak for an unfiltered conversation about the modern wedding industry through the lens of fashion, power, and self-expression. We kick things off with Hayley’s viral CNN moment imagining Taylor Swift’s wedding dress, unpacking what celebrity weddings really teach brides about symbolism versus spectacle. From there, the conversation dives deep into how today’s brides are breaking free from tradition. Hayley opens up about fighting to reclaim the rights to her own name, how that experience led to founding A Girl You Might Know Foundation, and what brides (and creators) should understand about protecting creative identity in a corporate-driven industry. Together, Hayley and Julia share insider designer-planner tea, overlooked fashion details that can make or break a wedding day, and the emotional weight brides often place on The Dress. Plus: inclusivity in bridal (what’s real vs. performative), practical advice for brides planning far in advance, and rewriting outdated wedding “rules.” Whether you’re engaged, wedding-curious, or just obsessed with fashion and power dynamics behind the scenes, this episode goes far beyond the Pinterest version of bridal. What Really Happens Inside a Fashion Sustainability Startup With Cerofy | The Scene

This week, Dinner for Shoes goes on location, straight to the offices of Cerofy, an eco-design and certification platform helping fashion brands actually walk the walk when it comes to sustainability and CO₂ reduction. I’m hanging out with Cerofy founder Corina Weikl, tattoo artist and sustainability entrepreneur (and the woman behind some of my tattoos), and Sydney Ellis, Cerofy’s Head of Sustainability & Product Strategy, to see what their real day-to-day looks like. We discuss how they help brands use data, AI, and smart design decisions to lower emissions, cut costs, and build real consumer trust without sacrificing creativity or style. We talk fashion materials, sustainability myths, how tech is changing the industry right now, and what actually makes a difference when it comes to reducing CO₂ emissions (just in time for International Reducing CO₂ Emissions Day).  And yes, I showed up in a fully sustainable ‘fit for the occasion, with the shoe of the day being a pair of VIVAIA boots — made from recycled plastic water bottles — because the outfit always understands the assignment. Come for the fashion, stay for the tech, and leave feeling smarter (and oddly optimistic) about where the industry is headed. I Got Tattooed in NYC — and Interviewed My Artist While She Worked | The Scene

This week on Dinner for Shoes, I’m taking you with me to finally get the running tattoo I’ve been thinking about for years. We’re at Uplift, my go-to tattoo studio in NYC, chatting, laughing, and talking through the meaning behind the piece while it’s actually happening. I interview my tattoo artist Julia mid-session, covering everything from personal style to self-expression, identity, and why tattoos can be such emotional markers in our lives. After the tattoo is done, I break down how my outfit ties into the moment, as always. To wrap things up, I go through all of my tattoos, count them, and share the stories behind each one — when I got them, why they mattered at the time, and how they reflect different chapters of my life. If you’ve ever thought about getting a tattoo, love hearing the stories behind people’s ink, or just want a real, relaxed conversation about style and identity, this episode is for you. Is Botox My Kind of Beauty? | Shoe Therapy

Everyone around me seems to have a smooth forehead — but does that mean I should too?  Welcome back to Shoe Therapy, a Dinner for Shoes podcast miniseries that consists of real talk in really good shoes. In this episode, host Sarah Wasilak asks the question so many of us are quietly wrestling with: Is botox my kind of beauty? At 33, Sarah opens up about feeling the pressure to have a smooth forehead in a world (and algorithm) that seems to expect it. She shares her honest back-and-forth on booking — and delaying — her botox appointment, why self-expression feels like her truest form of beauty, and how timeless pieces, like her outfit and favorite jewelry, remind her that originality never goes out of style. My Las Vegas Grand Prix Weekend: Fashion, Food & F1 Magic | Dinner for Shoes

I’m back from the Las Vegas Formula 1 Grand Prix, and this Dinner for Shoes episode is all about the style and food that shaped the entire weekend. I’m walking through each day — the outfits I packed, events with LEGO and T-Mobile, a Strip Circuit track tour, the Disney x F1 hub, Peloton morning at The Wynn, “The Wizard of Oz” at the Sphere, and even stepping inside the Williams garage. I’m also sharing every memorable meal, from Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen and Carbone Riviera to the roasted potatoes from Wolfgang Puck that I can’t stop thinking about (and had to recreate for today’s “dinner”). If you’re curious what an F1 weekend really looks like through a fashion-and-food lens, here’s my full Vegas recap.
