From Exhausted to Empowered: What Your Hormones Might Be Telling You

Episode Summary In this powerful and eye-opening Part 1 conversation of The Living Transformed Podcast, Caroline sits down with Brooks Vaughn and Nancy Tucker of The Women’s Health Company to unpack a topic so many women are quietly struggling with, feeling “off” in their bodies. As part of the Season 5 theme ASCEND, this episode reframes health not as striving or perfection, but as stewardship. Together, they explore what’s really going on beneath the surface when women feel exhausted, overwhelmed, or not like themselves - and why it’s often not a discipline issue, but a deeper physiological one. Brooks and Nancy bring both clinical expertise and faith-centered perspective as they explain hormones in a simple, approachable way and highlight how factors like nutrition, stress, sleep, and inflammation all work together to impact a woman’s health. This episode is a reminder that your body is not broken - it’s communicating. And when you begin to understand it, you can steward it well, regain energy, and step fully into the life God is calling you to live. Stay tuned for Part 2, where they’ll dive deeper into solutions, testing, and practical next steps. What to Expect in This Episode Why so many women feel “off” even when they’re doing everything right The difference between a discipline issue and a deeper health issue What hormones actually are and why they matter How hormones act as messengers that control key body functions The connection between hormones, energy, mood, and metabolism Why women’s bodies are constantly changing through different life stages Key life phases: puberty, pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause The concept of perimenopause as a “zone of chaos” How stress, nutrition, sleep, and inflammation impact your health Why “normal” lab results don’t always mean optimal health The importance of individualized, root-cause care Common symptoms women experience but often ignore Why understanding your body leads to better stewardship Encouragement for women who feel confused or dismissed in their health journey Key Takeaways If you don’t feel like yourself, it’s worth paying attention. Hormones are essential - they impact your entire body. Feeling “off” is often a combination of multiple factors, not just one issue. Normal is not the same as optimal - thriving is the goal. Your body is constantly communicating - learn to listen. Health is stewardship, not selfishness. Every woman’s body is unique - there is no one-size-fits-all solution. You are not meant to just survive - you are called to feel well and live fully. Scripture Anchors Hebrews 12:1 — “Let us throw off everything that hinders… and run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Psalm 139:14 — “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 — “Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit…”   Signs Your Body May Be Asking for Attention “I just don’t feel like myself” Constant fatigue or low energy Disrupted or poor sleep Increased anxiety or mood swings Weight changes that don’t make sense Brain fog or lack of focus Feeling less resilient than you used to be More intense PMS symptoms than before Foundational Truths About Women’s Health Your body is interconnected - hormones, nutrition, and stress all work together Hormones are constantly shifting, not static Life stages (puberty → pregnancy → postpartum → menopause) impact everything Symptoms matter just as much as lab work Healing begins with understanding, not guessing Final Encouragement If you’ve been feeling exhausted, confused, or unlike yourself—you are not alone. Your body isn’t working against you. It’s inviting you to pay attention. You don’t have to settle for “just getting through the day.” You were created to live with energy, clarity, and purpose. Start with awareness. Ask questions. Seek understanding. Because when you steward your health well… you are better equipped to ASCEND into everything God has called you to be.   Connect with Brooks & Nancy The Women’s Health Company Website: https://www.thewomenshealthcompany.com/ Instagram: @thewomenshealthcompany  Connect with Caroline Instagram: @carolineharrisward Email: caroline@transfitathens.com Website: www.transfitathens.com App: TransFit Personal Training App Train with Caroline & the TransFit Team TransFit offers personal training, group training, yoga, HIIT, Bible study, corporate events, nutrition consulting, and Zoom coaching. Episode Summary In this heartfelt and deeply personal episode of The Living Transformed Podcast, Caroline sits down with a very special guest, her mom, Carolyn Morazan, to talk about what it truly means to live a life marked by consistency, faith, and quiet strength. As part of the Season 5 theme ASCEND, this conversation highlights how real strength is not built overnight, but through years of faithful, intentional choices. Through stories of endurance, including over 20 years of participating in MS charity bike rides, and honest moments of walking through depression, this episode offers both inspiration and practical encouragement. This conversation is a reminder that legacy isn’t built in big, flashy moments, it’s built in the quiet, daily decision to show up. Whether you’re feeling motivated or struggling to stay consistent, this episode will encourage you to start small, stay faithful, and keep moving forward. About Carolyn Carolyn Morazan grew up in Commerce, Georgia, and earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and Elementary Education from Mercer University, as well as her Master of Education in Early Childhood Education from University of New Orleans. She has especially cherished living just two miles from her daughter, son-in-law, and three grandchildren. Carolyn enjoys an active lifestyle, including cycling, working out, reading, walking, and traveling. Movement and routine can support both mental and emotional health. Serving others brings purpose and connection. Legacy is built in the everyday moments of faithfulness. Start small—but don’t wait to begin. Scripture Anchors Philippians 3:14 — “Press on toward the goal…” Galatians 6:9 — “Let us not grow weary in doing good…” 1 Corinthians 15:58 — “Stand firm… always give yourselves fully…” Practical Ways to Stay Consistent Start Small Don’t overwhelm yourself—take simple, manageable steps. Episode Summary In this meaningful and encouraging episode of The Living Transformed Podcast, Caroline sits down with Lesley Platek - storyteller, legacy keeper, and host of Classic City Rewind, to explore the power of community and why no one is meant to rise alone. As part of the Season 5 theme ASCEND, this conversation highlights how true growth is not just personal, it is deeply relational. Lesley shares her journey of moving to Athens, navigating seasons of loneliness and transition, and ultimately discovering the life-changing impact of intentional community. Together, Caroline and Lesley unpack how community shapes who we become, supports us in both joy and hardship, and helps anchor us in seasons of change. They discuss the courage it takes to step out, build relationships, and lean into uncomfortable spaces in order to experience connection. Lesley also shares her heart behind preserving stories and building legacy, reminding listeners that the seeds we plant today - through relationships, service, and presence - can impact generations to come. This episode is a powerful reminder that ascending isn’t about going higher alone, it’s about rising together, rooted in connection, supported by others, and committed to building a life that lasts. Whether you’re new to a city, feeling disconnected, or longing for deeper relationships, this conversation will encourage you to take the first step toward community, and not retreat. What to Expect in This Episode Lesley’s journey of moving to Athens and finding community Why community is essential for growth, healing, and belonging How seasons of loneliness can lead to deeper connection The idea that “community models what matters” Why we are not meant to rise alone How life transitions impact identity and connection The role of community in both joyful and difficult seasons Why building community requires intentional action The importance of stepping out of your comfort zone How preserving stories creates lasting legacy What it means to be a “legacy keeper” How small acts of connection can shape a meaningful life Why serving others helps build stronger community Encouragement for women who feel hesitant to put themselves out there Key Takeaways No one is meant to ascend alone—community is essential. Community shapes who we become and what we value. Building meaningful relationships requires intentional action. Growth and comfort do not exist together. Small steps of connection can lead to lasting belonging. Your legacy is built through the people you love and invest in. Serving others is a powerful way to find purpose and community. Stepping out of fear and choosing not to retreat leads to growth. Scripture Anchors Philippians 3:14 — “Press on toward the goal…” Genesis 2:18 — “It is not good for man to be alone.” Hebrews 10:24–25 — “Let us consider how we may spur one another on…” Practical Ways to Build Community Don’t Retreat Lean into hard conversations, new environments, and opportunities to connect. Invest in Relationships Be present, follow up, and intentionally pour into the people around you. Serve Others Find a local organization or need—serving creates shared purpose and connection. Final Encouragement You don’t have to do life alone. Even if stepping into community feels uncomfortable or unfamiliar, you are not meant to retreat. Start small. Show up. Stay consistent. How Do We Rise Higher? The Secret Is JOY

Episode Summary In this powerful and joy-filled episode of The Living Transformed Podcast, Caroline sits down with Laura Hope Whitaker, CEO of Extra Special People and author of The Joy Exchange, to explore what it truly means to live a life marked by lasting joy. As part of the Season 5 theme ASCEND, this conversation reframes joy not as fleeting happiness, but as something deeper, relational, and transformational. Laura shares her journey from an 18-year-old college student struggling with comparison to stepping into leadership and purpose through serving individuals with disabilities. Together, Caroline and Laura unpack the difference between happiness and joy, revealing how joy is not dependent on circumstances but is instead built through connection - with God and with others. They explore how serving, leaning into discomfort, and choosing compassion over convenience can actually expand our capacity for joy. Laura also shares powerful research behind joy as a “muscle” that can be developed over time, reminding listeners that no matter their past or current circumstances, joy is not out of reach—it can be rebuilt. This episode is a heartfelt reminder that joy is found not in striving, but in abiding. Not in isolation, but in connection. And often, it’s discovered in the places we least expect - on the other side of awkward, in simple moments of delight, and in loving the people right in front of us. Whether you feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply longing for more joy in your life, this conversation will encourage you to start small, lean in, and receive the gift of joy that God is offering. What to Expect in This Episode Laura’s journey from college student to CEO of ESP The difference between happiness (circumstantial) and joy (relational) Why joy is something we build—not something we’re born with How serving others helps you discover your purpose The concept of joy as a “muscle” that can grow over time Why connection and being “delighted in” shapes our ability to experience joy How small moments (eye contact, smiles, hugs) create meaningful joy exchanges The importance of leaning into awkward instead of avoiding it How compassion differs from empathy—and why action matters Why perspective shifts can lighten heavy seasons How to cultivate belonging and joy within your family Practical ways to start building joy in everyday life Why loving God and loving others is the foundation of true joy Key Takeaways Joy is not the same as happiness—it is deeper, lasting, and rooted in connection. Your capacity for joy can grow at any stage of life. Joy is built through small, intentional moments of connection with others. Leaning into discomfort often leads to deeper joy and purpose. Compassion requires action—not just feeling. Serving others helps you discover who God created you to be. Perspective shifts can transform how you experience difficult seasons. Loving God and loving others is the foundation of a joyful life. Scripture Anchors John 15:9–13 — “That your joy may be complete… love one another as I have loved you.” Romans 15:13 — “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him.” John 9 — Jesus’ example of purpose through unexpected circumstances Practical Ways to Build Joy Lean Into Connection Make eye contact, smile, and engage—joy grows through simple human connection. Delight in Others Show people they are seen, valued, and loved through your presence and attention. Serve Regularly Serving others helps you discover purpose and expands your capacity for joy. Choose Compassion Over Comfort Move beyond empathy—take action to love and support others. Start Small Joy doesn’t come from big life changes, but from consistent, small exchanges. Through stories of isolation during college, lessons learned from sports, and the challenges of launching a new business, Georgia shares how hard seasons can shape endurance, humility, and courage. They also talk about the power of consistency, the importance of guarding your mindset, and why fear of imperfection often keeps people from pursuing what God has placed on their hearts. Rising Above Anxiety: From Overwhelmed to Anchored

Episode Summary In this encouraging episode of The Living Transformed Podcast, Caroline sits down with licensed professional counselor Candace Couch to talk about one of the most common barriers women face in their journey of growth: anxiety. As part of the Season 5 theme ASCEND, this conversation explores how emotional healing is not separate from spiritual growth — it is part of the ascent. Candace brings both clinical wisdom and compassionate insight as she explains how anxiety develops, why it has become increasingly common in both children and adults, and how women can begin to move forward instead of remaining stuck in cycles of stress and overwhelm. Caroline and Candace discuss how our thoughts shape our emotions and behaviors, how family dynamics influence the way we interpret the world, and why awareness is often the first step toward meaningful transformation. They also explore how faith and counseling beautifully complement one another, offering both practical tools and biblical encouragement for navigating anxious seasons. Candace shares three simple but powerful tools that anyone can begin practicing today to calm the nervous system, regulate emotions, and reclaim control over anxious thinking. Together, they remind listeners that anxiety may be present in our lives, but it does not define us or determine our future. This episode offers encouragement, practical wisdom, and a powerful reminder: anxiety does not disqualify you from rising — healing is part of the ascent. What to Expect in This Episode Understanding why anxiety has become more common in today’s culture How family systems shape the way we think, feel, and respond The connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors Why emotional awareness is the first step toward transformation Signs parents should watch for when children are experiencing anxiety How strengthening family communication can reduce anxiety at home Why high-functioning women often struggle with anxiety The difference between everyday stress and clinical anxiety How shame and isolation keep people stuck in anxious patterns Three practical tools for calming anxiety in real time How marriage conflict is often rooted in defensiveness and unmet expectations The impact of family of origin dynamics on adult relationships Why emotional maturity requires accepting both strengths and weaknesses How faith and counseling work together in the healing process Encouragement for women who feel overwhelmed or alone in their struggles Key Takeaways Anxiety often follows predictable patterns and can be addressed with awareness and practical tools. Our thoughts influence our emotions and behaviors more than we often realize. Emotional maturity comes from accepting weaknesses rather than defending them. Family systems and childhood experiences shape how we see the world. Healing often begins with simply naming what we are experiencing. You are not alone — many women are thinking the same anxious thoughts. Faith and counseling work together to support emotional and spiritual health. Scripture Anchors Philippians 3:14 — “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” 2 Corinthians 10:5 — “Take every thought captive to obey Christ.” Matthew 7:5 — “First take the plank out of your own eye…” Psalm 139:14 — “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Three Tools for Rising Above Anxiety 1. Progressive Muscle Relaxation — Calming the Body Anxiety often begins in the body before it reaches our thoughts. Slowly relaxing each muscle group from head to toe teaches the brain that it is safe and not in immediate danger. 2. Intentional Breathing — Slowing the Nervous System Slow, controlled breathing signals the brain to move out of emergency mode and return to calm, thoughtful processing. 3. Think About What You're Thinking About — Renewing the Mind Once the body is calm, we can examine our thoughts. Identifying anxious or distorted thinking allows us to replace it with truth. Resources Mentioned True to You — Kathleen Smith The Gift of Being Yourself — David Benner The Freedom of Self-Forgetfulness — Tim Keller Final Encouragement Anxiety is something many people experience, but it does not have to control your life. Healing often begins with slowing down, becoming aware of what is happening beneath the surface, and allowing yourself to receive support. Whether that support comes through counseling, trusted friendships, or time with the Lord, freedom is possible. You are not alone in what you are facing. Growth, healing, and emotional maturity are all part of the journey of becoming who God created you to be. If this episode encouraged you, share it with a friend who may need this reminder today. ASCEND: Rising Into The Life God Has Called You To

Episode Summary In this inspiring, introduction to Season 5 of The Living Transformed Podcast, Caroline introduces the heart behind the season— ASCEND.  Caroline shares a quiet moment that sparked this theme: realizing she had been asking God to expand what she was building without asking Him to deepen who she was becoming. From that moment, ascend kept rising in her spirit. This episode reframes growth as maturity, formation, and rootedness rather than hustle, performance, or visibility. Caroline walks through four practical ways women can ascend in this season spiritually, physically, mentally, and relationally. She offers tangible habits, honest stories from her own life, and faith-anchored encouragement for sustainable transformation. Rooted in scripture and grace, this episode reminds listeners that ascending is not about doing more or becoming louder, it is about becoming the kind of woman who can carry what she is praying for. Whether you feel stuck, stretched, or simply hungry for deeper growth, this conversation will meet you right where you are and invite you upward — steadily, intentionally, and together. What to Expect in This Episode Why growth isn’t about hustle — it’s about maturity The difference between expansion and depth What it means to ascend without striving or performing How refinement often precedes influence Four key areas of life where real transformation happens Why presence matters more than productivity in motherhood Small habits that create deep spiritual roots How strength training builds confidence beyond appearance Practical ways to renew your mind and replace negative thoughts Why comparison keeps women stuck — and how to break free The importance of surrounding yourself with growth-minded community Why pruning and saying no can be part of God’s preparation Simple weekly action steps to begin ascending today Resources to support sustainable personal and spiritual growth Key Takeaways Ascending is about formation, not visibility. You are not behind — you are being built. Small, consistent habits create deep transformation. Strength, renewal, and community are essential for growth. God often deepens character before expanding influence. Rising sometimes looks like slowing down and becoming present. Scripture Anchors Philippians 3:14 — “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Colossians 2:7 — “Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him.” Romans 12:2 — “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” Proverbs 27:17 — “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Resources Mentioned Crowned & Called Bible Study The TransFit App (workouts, devotions, nutrition, and community resources) The Bible Recap Atomic Habits by James Clear The Ascend 30-Day Devotion (available on TransFit website and App) Final Encouragement You were not created to stay stagnant — you were created to rise.
