Episode 7 - Why the Mounjaro Hate?

Episode 7 of Make Your Mark is here. This week Mark checks in on life after major weight loss, turning 48 and why maintaining weight can sometimes feel mentally harder than losing it. He also opens up about the growing negativity and criticism he’s been receiving online since sharing his Mounjaro transformation and breaks down what’s really behind many of the comments people leave about GLP-1 medications. Mark is then joined by Conor O’Conor from Operation Transformation who speaks openly about starting his own Mounjaro journey with Everwell, where his health is currently at and the mindset behind finally deciding to make a change. After the interview Mark discusses the growing pressure on Ireland to fund medications like Mounjaro through the public health system as patients continue paying hundreds of euro per month privately. He breaks down why obesity treatment is changing rapidly, why access to GLP-1 medications is becoming such a major issue and why the conversation around obesity in Ireland is only beginning. Mark also discusses Retatrutide, the new GLP-1 medication currently in trials, why people should approach it cautiously and why the future of obesity treatment could look very different over the next decade. Plus this week’s Top 5: 5 good replies to negative comments aimed at people using GLP-1 medications. Episode 6 – Why Extreme Diets Always Fail

Welcome back to Episode 6. This one is a bit of a check-in, because a lot has changed since the last episode. I’m officially in maintenance now. I’ve lost over 12 stone, and I actually got down to 14 stone 13… which is about 5 pounds past my original target. So now the focus shifts slightly. I’m not trying to lose more, I’m actually looking to bring things back up in a controlled way. Training is as busy as ever, I’m in the gym consistently, and honestly I’ve never felt fitter or stronger. Body fat is sitting around 12 percent, which is something I never thought I’d be saying. I’m still on 15mg of Mounjaro, but now it’s being used as a tool for maintenance rather than just weight loss. Calories are going up slightly as well. I’ve been eating around 2,750 and still losing, so I’m increasing that to 3,000 and seeing how my body responds. So that’s where things are at right now. In today’s episode, I want to get into a few important topics. I’ll be talking about Mounjaro and what happens when your dose is too high, especially if you’re struggling to eat or even the thought of food is putting you off… because that’s something a lot of people are getting wrong. I’m also going to cover why extreme diets fail, backed by research, and tie that into my own experience of losing 7 stone very quickly… and putting it all back on just as fast. I’ll be joined by Oddie as well, who’s right at the start of his own journey. He’s taking a slightly different approach, focusing on building proper habits first before introducing medication, which I think is a very smart way to go about it. So it’ll be interesting to get his take on everything. And to finish off, I’m starting something new for each episode… a Top 5. This week, it’s simple, practical ways to top up your protein without overcomplicating things. So yeah, a lot to get through in this one. Let’s get into it. Episode 5 - The Biggest Mounjaro Myth

Welcome back to Make Your Mark, the podcast where we cut through the noise and talk honestly about weight loss, health, and the stuff people don’t always say out loud. This week, I’m kicking things off by diving into what I genuinely believe is the biggest Mounjaro myth going right now. It’s something I keep seeing and hearing, and I think it’s time we actually unpack it properly. I then take a look at a widely shared article featuring Oprah Winfrey and her experience using weight loss medication. It’s been talked about everywhere, but I want to share my take on what she said and why I think it matters. After that, I’m joined by this week’s guest, Paul. Paul has been on his own weight loss medication journey for some time and moved over to Wegovy four months ago. I can’t wait to hear how he’s been finding it, what’s surprised him, and what the reality has been like so far. And to finish the episode, we listen to a video from Dr Richie Kirwan on Instagram, where he talks about the truth behind ultra processed food. I wasn’t expecting his take at all, but after listening, it completely clicked and gave me a lot to think about. So let’s get into it. This is Episode 5 of Make Your Mark.
