    Ep 34 You Are What You Practice - Solocast with Megs Malloy

    Michelle Obama says, "Practice who you want to be every single day." I had already planned to talk about practice but then as luck would have it, I came across this quote. If we know we want to be a patient, fun, present mom who is calm and enjoys the little things, then we must practice being that person every day. Jack Johnson says, "It's always better when we do it together." And so I am putting together a group of moms who want to have no regrets in their own short, precious life. They want to soak up all the joy of their child's youth. There is joy all around us. We can let it pass through us and continue to experience more and more happiness.     Ep 33 Reflect on this Reflection - Solocast with Megs Malloy

    Reflection is a funny word, in my opinion, because it has two conflicting definitions. One is the throwing back by a body or surface of light, heat, or sound without absorbing it. The second meaning is serious thought and consideration. To me this is ironic because when we reflect on something we really absorb the meaning of the lessons we’ve learned, the challenges that have molded us, and the ways we have grown.  Today is an episode of reflection. As I watched my nephew’s culmination from elementary school this morning, I held my five year old in my lap, who in just two days is having his own graduation from preschool. The past, present and future came together as I was thinking of… how the last three years have gone by so fast…how my five year old is so big yet so small right now….and how in just five short years we will be sitting in the same amphitheater watching him graduate to the next chapter.  If you are like me and get sentimental about these next chapters coming and going and want to soak up every day and every moment, not just the milestones, then you are going to love Slow Down Time!  It’s a guided group where we practice calming ourselves when we want to fast forward, practice pressing play, pressing pause and rewinding with intention.     Ep 32 Slow Down Time - Solocast with Megs Malloy

    Do you ever wish life had a control panel just like a VCR? If you could fast forward, you might miss the magical moments that are right under your nose. If you press play, you could add a little fun, curiosity, and lightheartedness to your mothering. If you rewind, you will not only intentionally capture memories but also reflect on special moments at the end of each day. If you could eject, you would be able to take a complete break from motherhood. This is a topic that is close to my heart after having seen how death can come at any moment and going through my own mommy burnout. I want to help other moms enjoy their children while they are still young, their parents while they are still alive and just suffer less. Sounds good right? The word of the day is EMPIRICAL which means based on, concerned with, or verifiable by observation or experience rather than theory or pure logic.
