Ugo Monye, Chris Jones and Danny Care bring you special guests and cover the biggest stories in rugby union.
The backlash begins
Ugo, Ashy and Chris get stuck into a thrilling weekend of international rugby. Jamie Roberts joins the pod from South Africa after Wales suffered more heartbreak at the hands of the Springboks. We also welcome back our Aussie correspondent Drew Mitchell as the Wallabies drew first blood in their series with England. Will Eddie Jones stick with Farrell and Smith combination? There were also chastening defeats for Scotland and Ireland to discuss as the other Six Nations sides failed to make an impact on the opening ‘Super Saturday’.
Bonus Pod: England lose to 14 man Australia
England hooker Jamie George joins Chris Jones, Ugo Monye and Natasha Hunt live from the stadium in Perth after England lose 30-28 to 14 man Australia in the First Test of their summer tour. They discuss where it went wrong for Eddie Jones' side who should've seen it home after Darcy Swain was sent off in the first half for a headbutt in Australia's first win over England since knocking the co-hosts out of the 2015 World Cup.
Teams are out
Is this the strongest England team since the 2019 World Cup? Ugo and Chris chat to Eddie Jones after he gives Danny a first England start in four years and names Courtney Lawes as captain. Former Lions and Ireland winger Shane Horgan talks about the expectation levels ahead of Ireland's first Test in New Zealand. Wales have also gone for experience and brought back George North and Dan Lydiate return for their first Test against South Africa in Pretoria.
Super Saturday, The Sheriff and Drew Mitchell
Ugo and Chris are joined by two special guests on the pod this week as we get ready for the first super Saturday of the summer. Our newly crowned Aussie correspondent Drew Mitchell joins the pod in the green and gold to give us the lowdown on Dave Rennie's Wallabies. Ugo and Chris chat about the England captaincy and who will lead the team in the first Test. 'The Sheriff' Ken Owens joins from his car to talk about Wales' chances in South Africa and talks us through the best way to beat the Springboks on home soil. Ugo and Chris also discuss Luther Burrell's comments about racism in rugby and what can be done to tackle it.
DC on tour and Ashy's title party
It's been another sensational few days for the pod. Ashy won his fourth Premiership title at the weekend and now Danny is on his way to Australia with England. Ugo and Sara chat to Eddie Jones about why he's brought Danny back into the fold along with Billy Vunipola. They also quiz the England boss on his midfield selections and that humbling defeat to the Barbarians. We then hear about Ashy’s two-day title celebrations with his Leicester team-mates. We find out what state the Premiership trophy is in, and why Freddie Steward nearly ended up in the River Thames.
Chris is joined by Tom Wood and Paul Grayson for reaction to Leicester's first Premiership title since 2013. Hear from a "knackered" Chris Ashton after Freddie Burns' last minute drop-goal sealed victory at Twickenham. Plus, there's more high tackle debate and an interview with Saracens and England hooker Jamie George.
Can u please talk about 6 nations fantasy
A great podcast
Hi this is Tom Perrin living in Ireland but from England.I love rugby and support England. This podcast is one of my favourites and I’m always looking for the newest one. Please don’t take a summer break as these podcasts are fantastic. 😂You guys talk about great topics and the quiz is class. My favourite player is Sam Underhill as I love his Tackles and Tackling is also my strength within rugby. Any chance of maybe getting him on the Pod soon.
