Not as good as it used to be

I've listened all the way through from the very first episode.

Kristen and Caroline were great hosts and developed a fantastic podcast.

I'd recommend listening to all their podcasts up until November 2016.

Sadly after they left the quality became much less rigorous. One temporary host seemed to regard the podcast as a platform to promote her own business.

The format has completely changed with half the conversations being hijacked to spend five minutes discussing one scene in a movie.
If I wanted to listen to a discussion of feminism in pop culture I'd listen to one.

I couldn't tell you any of Kristen and Carolines hobbies but I can tell you Annie and Sammantha's favourite movies because they will go off on a tangent to link any topic back to their favourite movies or their hobbies.

Instead a podcast which cited its academic sources seems to have devolved to ancedata of this happened to a friend of mine or one time I had this experience. Fair warning, two of the podcasts are literally recordings of the hosts therapy sessions.

The interviews with women doing interesting work was a welcome innovation but the interview subjects seem to have been picked based on either being friends of the hosts or hosts of upcoming podcasts promoting their new show.

The book club and film podcasts spend half the time providing a scene by scene recap of the plot.
In the latest bookclub they frankly admitted the book had nothing to do with feminism and had no feminist themes! Then why are you discussing it on a feminist podcast.
I'm listening for stuff mom never told you, not stuff mom hasn't watched with you.

I know it is unfair to expect new host to do exactly what the old ones did and considering the amount of topics Kristen and Caroline covered it is hard to find new topics.

Bearing in mind I'm writing this review in the middle of lockdown and consequently grumpy. Kristen and Caroline set too high a bar.

Sorry, I'm unsubscribing and looking for a podcast which is actually discussing feminism.

“What it means to identify as female”

So in ye olden days long long ago, this garbled nonsense new speak would have read “what it means be a woman”. But now ‘woman’ is a baaaaaaaaad and hateful word if it refers to females. It can only be used in a non-bigoted way if it refers to men. While the makers of this podcast are busy erasing the meaning of the word woman, they should probably also get rid of the totally transphobic term “Mom”. I’d suggest they re-name the podcast “Stuff the uterus-have assigned to be your primary carer at birth never told you”.

Incredibly educational and entertaining

Kirsten and Caroline are too lovely women with cheery voices who host an incredibly well researched podcast on a range of issues usually from a feminist perspective. They are incredibly humble and always manage to cover controversial issues with compassion and conviction. I feel like I've learned loads and not felt bored for a moment.
