The GPI Global Poker Award Winning Podcast, sponsored by Unibet Poker, presented by David Lappin and Dara O'Kearney
The Chip Race - Season 14 Episode 3 - Mustapha Kanit Katie Swift Soheb Porbandarwala Paul Seaton
Our first episode of 2021 stars Italian high stakes crusher Mustapha Kanit. We welcome Grosvenor pro Katie Swift. In strategy corner, we welcome back our good friend and newly crowned WPT champion Soheb Porbandarwala. Paul Seaton joins us to talk about 'Poker On Screen'. We've got guest news-lady Kat Arnsby with all the news and results!
The Lock-In - Jack Hardcastle
This week, Jack Hardcastle is locked in and hiding out in what looks like a church for this controversial episode of 'The Lock-In'.
Joining our hosts Dara and David, Jack fires lots of shots, not least in the direction of Unibet Ambassador and 'The Chip Race' newsman Ian Simpson. Of course, that’s right after the fresh-faced assassin does a little bit of bragging about his recent $270,000 score in the Blowout Series. (Ambassador material, Unibet?)
The trio say goodbye to billionaire casino magnate, Republican mega-donor and online poker's public enemy #1 Sheldon Adelson. They pay their actual respects to Chris Moneymaker as he departs Pokerstars after 17 years and chat about the rumour that he is bound for ACR.
The conversation then switches to subject of coaching as both Dara and Jack weigh in on what qualities and skillsets are required to be a good coach in the current paradigm. There are some quick takes on Tony G's imminent return to poker, his role in the poker media landscape and the news that MGM Resorts have made an $8.1 Billion offer for Entain plc, the parent company of Partypoker.
The lads finish up with not one but two nuggets of strategy, one that's particularly pertinent to the upcoming Unibet PKO Series.
The Lock-In - Ian Simpson
This week, Ian Simpson is locked in and breaking out his old blackboard for the first episode of 2021.
Joining our hosts Dara and David, Ian weighs in on this year's farcical WSOP Main Event rebooted. Ahead of the upcoming Unibet PKO Series, the trio of ambassadors give their thoughts on why this format is so popular. The lads then talk about celebrity signings as part of a poker marketing strategy.
The conversation turns to the ongoing high profile Heads-Up matches as David sings a hilariously re-worded rendition of 'The Twelve Days of Christmas'. Former school-teacher Ian gives a lesson on the different Covid vaccines. Finally, the lads give their new year's resolutions, paving the way for Dara to introduce his first 'Lock-In' strategy nugget!
The Lock-In - Neil Channing
This week, Neil Channing is locked in and doling out the Christmas cheer on a special holiday season episode.
Joining our hosts Dara and David, Neil explains why poker’s premiere raconteur doesn’t have a podcast of his own. He reminisces about Christmases past when he used to play poker with the other Vic regulars and tells the lads a hilarious story about some bohemian shoplifting.
Dara and David remember some of their own Christmas parties from back when they had ‘The Firm’ stable. Dara takes the piss out of David’s inappropriately arty gifts that he used to buy the lads that they staked and there’s a tale about a drunken late night marathon walk home.
The lads also reflect on how poker has changed down the years before wrapping up with some thoughts on what a strange year 2020 has been.
The Chip Race - Season 14 Episode 2 - Norman Chad Olivier Busquet Sam Greenwood Wil Shillibier

The Best Poker Podcast by a long long way
I have listened to about twenty poker podcasts - most are rubbish, there are a couple of good ones, but this one is the best by a long long way! The hosts are two Irish poker pros, both excellent players and they know the poker world inside-out. They are both funny and have great chemistry and they ask serious questions without taking themselves too seriously which makes for great interviews. Their guests are a mixture of the most famous players in the game and other lesser well known characters with interesting stories. There are usually 3 or 4 guests each week so there are always lots of points of view. They also do a really good strategy section each week, spending 15 minutes looking at one hand from every angle. I generally listen to every episode twice because there's just so much in it. I highly recommend!
