Beyond the Hot-Takes

I found this podcast after spending a lot of time being exasperated by hot-takes and put-downs of many liberal commentators who seem more interested in insulting the GOP than in assessing the realities of the political landscape. The Weeds takes a more thorough approach to politics, keeping abreast with the latest political conflicts, but also examining the broader trends that underlie those conflicts, as well as the actual policies that these conflicts are ostensibly concerned with. The hosts offer their own opinions, but they are also quick to dispose of lazy hot-takes and generalizations, always imbuing their arguments with evidence and a healthy dose of perspectives. I particularly enjoy their episodes focusing on one particular policy issue, such as their recent episodes on housing, white panic, and open borders. Favourite Episode: The Gender Pay Gap is Mostly About Children

One of the best US Policy Podcasts out there

Although Matt’s voice can get irritating with his high pitches interjections, this podcast covers so much topics you always feel like you know what is going on.
