From Many Voices to One- Ha’azinu & Yom Kippur Tora and Stillness

What does it mean to truly listen? Ha’azinu begins with Moshe calling upon heaven and earth to hear his final song. From there, we explore the noise of the many voices within us — thoughts, fears, desires, expectations and possibilities — and the deeper question of how to hear without allowing every voice to lead us. Drawing on a teaching from Rabbi Yaakov Varshevski and a beautiful Zohar teaching about the Hebrew letters, we move from the many voices of the bet toward the unity of the aleph — and eventually to the central declaration of Yom Kippur: שְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵלה' אֱלֹהֵינוּה' אֶחָד Hear, Israel. God is One. This is Torah & Stillness — where Torah moves from the mind into the heart.
