    For the past several months, I've had the privilege of walking alongside St. Albert's High School and Our Lady of Fatima Orphanage in Pakistan as part of my work helping ministries strengthen their fundraising and donor development. Rather than talking about fundraising, I wanted to introduce you to the people behind this remarkable mission. In this conversation, you'll meet: Fr. Waqar Amer, the young priest leading St. Albert's High School and Our Lady of Fatima Orphanage. Trevor Rothfus, one of the mission's longtime supporters and a nonprofit leader himself. Together we discuss: Why education is one of the greatest tools for breaking the cycle of poverty and modern-day slavery among Christians in Pakistan. The daily challenges students and families face—from child labor to unreliable electricity and limited educational opportunities. What motivates generous donors to continue investing in this mission. Why fundraising isn't simply about meeting needs—it's about creating hope and inviting people into God's work. How even a small gift can completely transform the future of a child, a family, and an entire community. One moment that especially moved me was Fr. In this talk, originally given to my local covenant community, I share how my recent accident became a moment of interruption that God transformed into an invitation: to deeper dependence, to gratitude, and to the gift of community. While this isn’t a fundraising strategy session, the lessons here apply directly to the work of nonprofit and ministry leaders. Just as I needed others to carry me through weakness, our missions cannot thrive without the strength of community and the humility to depend on others. I don’t remember much about what happened on the road that day—but I do know this: without JJ Berg, I might not be here. JJ was the young man who found me unconscious, called 911, and stayed by my side until help arrived.
