Meet this bisexual+ drag queen

In this episode of Pride & Prejudice, host Suryatapa Mukherjee spoke to Patruni Chidananda Sastry about bisexuality. Patruni is a bisexual, trans non-binary drag artist based in Hyderabad. A 2019 study published in the Australian Journal of General Practice found that 77.6 percent of bisexuals had contemplated suicide as compared to 11.7 percent of the general population. According to Pew Research Center, 19% of bisexuals are out compared to 75% of gays and lesbians. We explore the factors both within and outside the queer community that lead to poor mental and physical health of bisexual people. How to read budget using a feminist lens

The Union budget is presented every year in February. But how do we know that the budget allocations are equitable? While most budget speeches talk about “empowerment” of women and other marginalised genders, does this translate into policy? To answer these questions, Suno India’s Menaka Rao, spoke to Dr Vibhuti Patel. She is part of the Feminist Policy Collective, an independent network of feminist academic researchers, policy experts, and campaigners. Dr Patel has been with the feminist movement in India for decades, and is the vice-president of Indian Association for Women’s Studies. Decoding India’s GDP and Economic slowdown

The Indian economy is in the doldrums. The Indian economy was already in bad shape before the COVID-19 pandemic struck. In 2019, India’s Gross Domestic Product i.e. GDP growth was 4.18%, lowest in that decade. The coronavirus pandemic and the nationwide lockdowns spiraled the economic downturn into a full-fledged economic crisis in the country. India’s GDP went through its worst phase of -7.3 % in 2020 and is still struggling to recover from it. The World Bank has also slashed India’s 2021-22 Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth forecast from 10.1per cent to 8.3%. Which means India’s GDP will grow with 1% growth.
