S3 Ep9: Josh Lamon, Sheldon in The Prom & Host of Josh Swallows Broadway

This week we're crossing the pond to speak to Broadway's Josh Lamon! Most recently Josh played Sheldon and understudied Barry in The Prom on Broadway. He is also the host of Josh Swallows Broadway for the Broadway Podcast Network. Josh's Broadway credits also include: Groundhog Day, Finding Neverland, Elf The Musical, Into The Woods and Hair. He played Boq in the US tour of Wicked and, prior to lockdown, was appearing in Emojiland off-Broadway. Josh is the co-writer of Bloody Bloody Jessica Fletcher: A musical parody of Murder She Wrote which premiered in London last year at the Other Palace as part of MT Fest. S5 Ep18: Savannah Stevenson, Marmee in Little Women

Savannah is starring as Marmee in the London premiere of Little Women at the Park Theatre. Produced by Aria Entertainment, Hope Mill Theatre and Knockhardy Productions in association with Park Theatre, the musical is based on the 1868 novel by Louisa May Alcott. Little Women ran on Broadway in 2005 starring Sutton Foster. Savannah starred as Glinda in the West End production of Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre for three years between 2013 and 2016. During her tenure, Savannah performed opposite Willemijn Verkaik, Kerry Ellis, Jennifer DiNoia and Emma Hatton as Elphaba. Just a few of Savannah's other credits include understudying Mary & Mrs Banks in the original production of Mary Poppins (Bristol & West End), understudy Scarlett in Trevor Nunn’s production of Gone With The Wind (West End), Young Sally in Follies (Northampton Royal), Cinderella in Simply Cinderella (Leicester Curve), Martha in The Secret Garden (West Yorkshire Playhouse), Aspects of Love (Menier Chocolate Factory), Sybil in Chariots Of Fire (Hampstead & West End) and Guenevere in Camelot (London Palladium). Savannah has also participated in many workshops and regularly works on screen. In this episode, Savannah discusses the excitement surrounding Little Women's London premiere, the decisions she has made throughout her career and how it feels to be returning to theatre for the first time since becoming a mum. Angeline Bell (Matilda / Mary Poppins) co-hosts The West End Frame Show! Andrew and Angeline discuss Stephen Sondheim's Old Friends (Gielgud Theatre) and Flowers For Mrs Harris (Riverside Studios) as well as the latest news about the Just Stop Oil protests, Mean Girls, the Tony Awards and lots more. Angeline's theatre credits include Disney’s Aladdin and Mary Poppins (both at the Prince Edward Theatre). Most recently she was in Matilda (Cambridge Theatre), understudying Mrs Phelps and Mrs Wormwood. In addition to other performing work, Angeline is an award winning teacher, having picked up Best Teacher at the 2019 Black British Theatre Awards. She is a permanent faculty member at Urdang. Additionally, Angeline's son, Maddison Tyson, is currently making his West End debut in Hamilton, making them a mother and son West End powerhouse duo! In this episode Angeline talks about putting her theatre career on hold to raise her son and what it was like to reenter the industry later in life. Amara Okereke is In The Frame! Amara is playing She in Echo by Susan Eve Haar at the King's Head Theatre. Following runs in Edinburgh and New York, Echo has opened in London directed by Abigail Zealey Bess. The psychological thriller delves into the ethics of reproductive technology, the performance of intimacy and the terrifying beauty of being made. Amara made her West End debut as Cassie in 13 The Musical. She went on to train at Arts Ed and then won Best Actress in a Musical at the 2018 Stage Debut Awards for her adult West End debut as Cosette in Les Misérables. Amara’s other theatre credits include Laurie in Oklahoma! (Chichester Festival Theatre), Polly in The Boyfriend (Menier Chocolate Factory) and Wendla in Spring Awakening (Almeida). Amara starred as Eliza Dootlittle in the West End revival of My Fair Lady (London Colesium). She has made West End history twice as the first black actress to play both Cosette and Eliza Doolittle. More recently Amara played Stella in A Streetcar Named Desire (Sheffield Crucible). Her film and television credits include The Morning After (Amazon), Red Rose (BBC/Netflix), The Choral (Sony) and In The Lost Lands (Constantin Films). In this episode Amara speaks about the whirlwind process of Echo and why she’s loving "weirding people out"! She also delves into her incredible career, discussing some of the major roles she has played, life as a soprano and making history as the first black Cosette and Eliza Dootlittle. It's the final episode of the series and Vasco Emauz is In The Frame! Vasco recently took over as Marty McFly in the West End production of Back To The Future. Having opened in London in 2021, Back To The Future has a book by Bob Gale and new music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard, alongside additional songs from the film including 'The Power of Love' and 'Johnny B. Goode'. Vasco graduated from the Institute of Barcelona last year and has moved to London to make both his West End and professional debuts in Back To The Future. Jennifer Caldwell (Anne Boleyn in Six / I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical) co-hosts The West End Frame Show! (Novello Theatre) as well as the latest news about the Wicked movies, the Les Misérables world arena tour, Sinatra The Musical and lots more. Jennifer is currently in rehearsals for I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical by Alexander S. Bermange. The show is returning to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer ahead of a London run at Wilton’s in an expanded production which includes new songs. Jennifer's theatre credits include: American Idiot (UK & Ireland tour), Knights of the Rose (Arts Theatre), Million Dollar Quartet (UK & Ireland and Indian tours), understudy Princess Fiona in Shrek the Musical (UK & Ireland Tour) and understudy Sophie in Mamma Mia! (Prince of Wales / Novello Theatre). In 2019 Jennifer joined Six The Musical as the alternate Boleyn and Howard on tour across the UK and Ireland. She hit swingo – playing all Six Queens – and transferred to the West End production as an emergency cover for a limited run. In 2021 Jennifer took over as Anne Boleyn full-time on tour in Six and also took the show to South Korea. I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical runs at The Gilded Baloon at the Museum at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival 3rd – 27th August. S6 Ep16: Daniel Koek, Robin in La Bohème & star of Phantom Australia

Daniel Koek is currently starring as Robin in La Bohème at the King's Head Theatre ahead of appearing in the upcoming Australian production of The Phantom of the Opera. La Bohème returns to the King’s Head Theatre in a new version which relocates the story to contemporary London. Directed by Mark Ravenhill, it's described as a "contemporary queer reinvention" of Puccini’s classic opera. After completing his run in La Bohème, Daniel will play the Porter and Jeweller whilst understudying The Phantom in the Australian production of The Phantom of the Opera which will play in Sydney and Melbourne. Hailing from South Australia, Daniel studied classical voice at the Conservatorium in Adelaide before moving to London to complete his Masters in Musical Theatre at the Mountview Academy. Whilst in Europe Daniel also studied in Amsterdam and sung a season with Nationale Reis Opera of the Netherlands. He is renowned for starring as Jean Valjean in the West End production of Les Miserables (Sondheim Theatre). His other credits include: Lt Cable in the Lincoln Centre production of South Pacific (UK/Australian tours), Anatoly in Chess (UK Tour) and Tony in West Side Story (UK Tour) and Father Frank in Saturday Night Fever (International Tour). Marley Fenton is currently starring as Danny Zuko in Grease. Directed by Nikolai Foster and choreographed by Arlene Phillips, the musical is back on tour across the UK & Ireland following two West End runs. After graduating from ArtsEd last year, Marley made his professional and West End debuts understudying the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz (London Palladium). He went on to join the all-star cast of Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends (Gielgud Theatre) and is set to appear in the Wicked movie. Before joining Grease, Marley recently returned to The Wizard of Oz, this time playing the Tin Man on the musical’s tour. S9 Ep42: Sharon Sexton, alternate Janis Joplin in A Night With Janis Joplin

Sharon Sexton is back in the frame! Sharon is currently starring as the alternate Janis in A Night With Janis Joplin. Following a run on Broadway and various tours, the show is making its West End premiere at the Peacock Theatre. Sharon is celebrated for her iconic performance as Sloane in Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf’s musical Bat Out Of Hell. Sharon originated the role during its original runs at the Manchester Opera House, London Coliseum and Dominion Theatres. Sharon later reprised her performance as Sloane in the Toronto production and recent UK/International tour. Later this year she will once again return for the musical's new tour. Since the beginning, Sharon has played Sloane opposite her husband Rob Fowler as Falco. Sharon’s other theatre credits include playing Donna in the UK & international tour of Mamma Mia! as well as the West End productions of Billy Elliot and The Commitments. Alongside her theatre work, Sharon is well known for her cabarets and concerts; her shows with Rob have won awards whilst she also has an acclaimed one woman show based on the life of Liza Minnelli. Most recently Sharon starred in and produced the concert tour of Defying Gravity: West End Woman. In this episode, Sharon discusses finding her Janis voice, returning to Bat Out Of Hell and why she has always been a hustler... plus lots more.
