    Boab Update from Studio 73

🎙️ Green Sunrise Podcast | Studio 73 with Boab Welcome to Studio 73… otherwise known as Boab’s living room. What began as a joke about the number on the front door soon became one of the most honest and heartfelt conversations we’ve ever recorded. In this deeply personal episode, Boab joins Paul C. Quinn to reflect on why the Green Sunrise Podcast was created, where life has taken him since our very first episode, and, most importantly, how hope can still be found even after your darkest moments. Boab speaks openly about a life that was once consumed by suicidal thoughts, moving from place to place with little more than cardboard boxes, multiple hospital admissions, and three suicide attempts before finally receiving a diagnosis of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD) at the age of 48. Rather than seeing the diagnosis as the end, Boab describes it as the beginning of finally understanding himself. We explore the difference between simply treating symptoms and discovering the root causes of our struggles, the importance of finding the right consultant, the right medication, and the right people to walk alongside you. Boab also shares why hearing real stories from people living with EUPD became just as important as anything he read in a clinical setting. At the heart of this episode is the incredible work of Men Matter Scotland, a charity that didn’t just support Boab—it introduced him to lifelong friendships, purpose, and a community that continues to save lives every single day. We also discuss the Crisis Team, peer support, and why sometimes the bravest thing anyone can do is simply pick up the phone. Along the way, there are plenty of lighter moments too—from Kevin the Skeleton making another appearance, to our favourite conversations over lunch at Haylynn Canteen, stories from the allotment, dreams of taking the podcast on the road, and why the simple art of conversation can often be the greatest therapy of all. Boab shares one analogy that perfectly explains what living with EUPD can feel like: “Imagine fifty thoroughbred horses outside your window. Now imagine someone hands you every single rein and asks you to hold them back.” That is the pressure Boab describes living with every day—and yet today he is in the longest period of his adult life without returning to hospital. This episode is for anyone who has ever wondered… “How can I tell someone what’s wrong when I don’t even know what’s wrong myself?” Boab’s answer is beautifully simple: Start by talking. You don’t need all the answers before you reach out. Whether you’re living with EUPD, Borderline Personality Disorder, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, or you’re simply struggling with life’s pressures, we hope this conversation reminds you that there are people who genuinely want to listen. Please reach out to trusted family or friends, your GP, mental health professionals, or organisations such as Men Matter Scotland, Andy’s Man Club, and other peer-support services available in your community. Please don’t live in silence. Your story isn’t over. 💚 Remember… You Are Green Sunrise. Decide on Life. 🌅
